hiya,
after a difficult start at 5/6 weeks.
i now have a hematoma found at 6 weeks which i could see was quite large. i have already had a huge red bleed. i then didn’t bleed for a week but now have lots of brown thick spotting/bleeding.
no one has told me to be on bed/pelvic rest but they booked me in to be re scanned again 2 weeks (only have a week to go now)

whah ate the dos and don’ts? when will the spotting stop? sex? swimming? walks?

Usually bed rest isnt reasonable anymore, it used to be but was found it doesnt actually make any changes to it.
Recommended not to have sex if my memory serves me right.. i had a haematoma and was told not to have sex.
Not too sure why? The penis doesnt go inside the uterus where the haematoma is lmao but it could be something else and im generally an amature when it comes to medical stuff, i havent gone through uni, or med school or whatever people want to call it. so its probably lack of understanding.
Id just say take it easy, not so much bed rest but nothing too strenuous. Dont go for a long walk if you feel it will strain you.
Just take it in your stride. Sometimes they get reabsorbed by the body, or is drained through the vagina. Doctors and midwifes dont actually tell you much about haematomas, ask questions, find out more information, dont be scared to ask a question because you might think its 'stupid', people in the real world going through this with no knowledge havent done 5+ years to get their medical degree! X

I'm 9+3 weeks and had a bleed at 7 weeks which turned out to a heamatoma, my midwife just advised to carry on as normal, and that rest or reducing activities will make no difference x

I had my bleed at 14 weeks, and continued to spot brown until maybe 16/17 weeks. I didn't put myself on bed rest and wasn't advised to but I didn't have sex, have a bath or go swimming while spotting, also just stopped heavy lifting. None of this was advised it was just based on my research and made me feel better. Tbh I didn't actually even tell my midwives until my 16 week appointment because they're a bit useless anyway.
The only thing my midwife said was up my iron intake, red meat/leafy greens etc.
@LER2023 I think the no sex thing is due to orgasms contracting the uterus and also an infection risk based on what I looked at

Recommendations are pelvic rest, no sex, no lifting, no bending, not heavy anything. Just take it easy, can walk. They do recommend to take progesterone and vitamin C.
