Chicken pox

20 weeks pregnant and ds has woken up this morning with what looks like the start of chicken pox.

I had chicken pox as a child, so assuming I should be immune. Should I contact midwife/GP anyway, i dont have any spots? Is there anything they can give me to prevent getting it? I know it's contagious up to 48 prior to symptoms/spots developing.

Yes, contact your midwife. She will need to rearrange any appointments.

You don't need anything to prevent you from getting it, because you've had it, as you say you are immune.

What do you mean? I have looked on the mhs website and there is no mention of staying home unless I was to develop spots.

I'm more worried about if it could affect baby and if they usually give anything as a preventative in this situation

As it's viral I wouldn't make any assumptions
And contact your midwife for advice x
