Slow labour

I've been in slow labour for 12 days now and it's really getting me down. Started with hours of contractions 3 minutes apart leading to only being 1cm dilated. Since then I've had 3 sweeps, another episode of contractions that started 10 minutes apart gradually getting as close as 2 minutes some extremely uncomfortable, this led to being 3cm dilated on Friday. I'm 39+4 weeks and exhausted 😩 I have daily bouts of contractions some quite painful and just feel like I'm getting nowhere! This is my 3rd baby and never had anything like this before. Please tell me I'm not alone! I do have induction booked for 40+4 but would prefer to go naturally before this.

This was me with my third baby too!
I also had not experienced anything like it with my previous two and I was miserable.

Anecdotally, many midwives told me that third babies were notoriously tricky and didn't like to play ball. Not sure if this is scientifically backed up but I was told multiple times that this can be the case.. and it was true for me.

Slow labour for about a week in my case then after a second sweep baby was born within 5 hours.

Hang on in there! I hope everything goes smoothly for you.

I had this with my first! Contractions started on the Saturday day, ended up being 4 mins apart and after 12 hours they stopped in the morning!? They ended up like this stopping and starting until she was eventually born Wednesday morning.

I’m not sure what caused it, but was told I was 8cm when I went into hospital, so at least I had done most of the work at home!

Thank you both for replying, nice to know I'm not alone! It's tiring, everyday contractions that are painful but never amount to active labour. I really hope next time I go in I'm miraculously 8cm 🤣 I'd definitely feel better about it all then!

You're not alone. This happened to me and then one day it all progressed suddenly and baby was here....My waters finally went, 30 hours later the hospital wanted to speed labour up by putting me on a drip and I said I knew baby would come if I stayed at home. I was right.
