Low lying anterior placenta and baby movement

I’m 24w2d and at my 20 week scan was told I have a low lying placenta, completely covering the OS. On my BadgerNotes app it says my placenta low lying anterior.

I felt quite strong ish movement from 20weeks, my partner could feel it too now and again. Ever since last week, the feelings have been a lot fainter. I have seen my midwife who has checked baby’s heartbeat and all is fine.

I didn’t think to ask whether the fainter movement could be as a result of my placenta moving up slightly? The movement is almost as if it’s being cushioned and I can’t physically see the movement anymore, whereas before last week I could.

Is 3 weeks long enough for the placenta to slightly move up?

Hi hun, I don’t have an advice but I’m experiencing same thing. I’m 24w2d as well having twins and one of my babies has a low anterior placenta. There are days that I can feel her strong kicks and there are days that I barely feel her. Went for a 4D scan and she was kicking like crazy her placenta and couldn’t feel a thing at the time so I guess even the positioning of the baby can make a difference on what we can feel. Also, placenta is growing the further along we getting so could start cover a bigger area?
I hope in your case the placenta is getting out of the way tho. If unsure go and get checked out in maternity triage for reduced movement, I think they usually do a scan as well.

I do know that placentas do move up and you can have a low lying placenta at 20 weeks and then a few weeks later just have ab anterior placenta. As long as you're feeling movement I would say it's likely because the placenta has moved, as baby gets bigger you might feel more forceful kicks off to the side or at the top!
