ok - have read the other threads on this but just wondered if anyone could re-assure me on this one!

dd has come down with chicken pox this morning, spots appearing before my eyes, blister like so am pretty sure its cp. i am 7+3 preg. had a blood test yesterday to check my immunity as i'd told the midwife dd had been exposed so they did it just in case. i will ask the doc later today when he rings back re dd (they didn't want me to take her down!) but do i need to do anything else, should i be worried? mum says i had it as a child but have heard of several getting it twice and then theres shingles. i'm itchy today but think thats just cos she is!

Although shingles is caused by the same virus you cannot catch shingles it is the virus reactivating within you commonly bu stress.

The chances are you are immune so try and relax and not worry (now I know that is probably imposable)

This will not take away the worry totally but hope it will help www.womens-health.co.uk/chickpox.asp

What ever the case they will keep a very close eye on you

HI - if it helps we had chicken pox at my nursery when i was 17 weeks pregnant and to my knowledge i have never had it. Immunity checked and i have good immunity so chances are that if you have had it you will be fine. Even if you do get it the risks are very very small (trust me I agonised over every statistic till i got my results). Try not to worry.

When I was concerned about this I rang NHS direct. The person who answered wasnt much help, but within 1/2 hour someone trained rang me back, asked all the right questions and was very helpful.
