First ever abdo ultrasound and the sonographer pressed really hard! Is it normal?

I’m worried she was a bit rough or that it could do any harm. I’m only 6 weeks and all looked good with baby, heartbeat and everything but the sonographer was really digging in to the point where it was a bit painful in order to see everything. Will it be ok?

Yes it'll be fine

I've had the same, baby in an awkward position so they really pressed down, very painful at the time but there is a lot between the baby and outside so wont have felt a thing.

Quite common especially if sitting low in pelvis or bladder isn’t as full as it should be

yeah, completely normal. I had my dating scan yesterday and am feeling it a little today.
I'm surprised they tried so hard to do an abdominal at 6 weeks though, transvag would have given better results and they usually try it at that gestation. Did you refuse a transvaginal scan or did they not offer? At 6 weeks they usually do transvag as standard but sometimes they may start with abdo and then move on. I guess if they got good enough measurements they didn't need to.

yep esp at only 6 weeks and baby is soooo tiny it's hard to find so have to look really hard. I am diabetic and inject in my stomach which has bruised so much easier since i got pregnant and ow my six week scan really hurt!!

They didn’t offer! I was very surprised too. I think they would’ve had they not been able to see

I'd definitely take it as a good sign that they could get good images so early! Must be a robust little bean.
