@Lunamoon23 I mentioned it to my midwife early on who was very supportive (she’s fab) and I was already under a consultant so she didn’t have to refer me to one (would have if I hadn’t already been under one).

I asked at a routine appointment and they booked another to discuss it and go through the consent form. The Doctor did quite dramatically highlight the risks but never tried to directly talk me out of it. I was really clear I was 100 % sure and blunt with the reasons why I wanted one and wasn't going to change my mind. I think had a said I wasn't sure or couldn't have explained my reasoning they may have pushed back. They did say a midwife would call to offer a counselling session around my choice but that never happened (I didn’t want it anyway!) I only got the date a week before but they told me it'd be around 39 weeks. I'd say ask early and just be clear with your reasoning when you request it.

The section itself was so quick he was out within an hour and a half of me arriving at the hospital and we were home within 24 hours. The consultant who delivered the baby said they'd chosen one too so no real push back or negative reactions, mostly positive. I think it's quite common for maternity staff to request one themselves as I know a few who have. Happy to explain more if there's anything you want to know!

@Livingonhope your very welcome. ❤️ xxxxx

And @Molly4689 I may pick your brains about it all a little later down the line, once I get closer to that stage. At the moment I feel like I need to just focus on being happy and Healthy for little one and try not to scare the living cr*p out of myself hahaha, but it's so helpful being able to speak to people who've been through it!

@Lunamoon23 I had an elective c section and it was wonderful, I didn't feel the epidural. Recovery was great. Equally I have friends who had home births with their first and also said they were the best thing they ever did. If you think an elective section is right for you then trust your gut. I'll be having one again this time.

This is good to hear. I feel like I'm going to want a section, I know there's plenty of time and my mind might change but that's what my gut is telling me.

Right now I'm just eager to have my first scan. Might pay to have a private one for peace of mind!

Is it weird I've had no major symptoms yet? Just late period, bit of cramping, bloating etc. my stupid anxious brain is like, is everything ok.. no sore boobs, sickness etc.

Lunamoon23 · 20/04/2024 07:38

Ladies, does anyone know what I can take for a cold whilst pregnant?
I've woken up feeling like I've been hit with a bus. Sore throat, chills then hot, bad body aches. I've googled it but it's all so confusing - I know paracetamol is ok but what about lemsip? Or throat lozenges?
A lot of the advice online says speak to your doctor, but we all know how impossible it is to speak to one these days and of course it's the weekend? I've got to go out this morning to run some errands and then plan on retreating back to bed. But was hoping to grab some stuff to help me feel abit more human whilst out too. Any advice greatly appreciated 💕

Good Morning How are we all today! How far are we :3? Anyone feeling any less nervous? Sorry iv been quiet it’s been a horrible panic full week every time I go to pee I’m scared I’m going to be bleeding but I’m not the fear of miscarriage again is really getting to me! I believe it’s probably time to book in for an early scan as I worry about ringing the EPU and them not wanting to do anything to help as I’m nog bleeding and I don’t want to take the time off people who may be need it more! Hope everyone is feeling Abit more confident! Xxx

Morning! I'm still absolutely terrified! I have a 6 week scan on Monday. I rang the early pregnancy unit and just explained my situation and they offered me a scan straight away even though I'm not bleeding, no pain or anything. I think if you call and explain your situation I'm sure they'll see you :) x

I'd go to a pharmacy and ask them :) hope you feel better soon!

UnicornPrincessSarah · 20/04/2024 08:32

@MotherofGods Omg I'm the same everytime im in the bathroom I'm looking at the toilet paper after wiping, my last loss was at 6/7 weeks I'm 7+3 today. Have my 8 week scan Wed 24th April, hopefully I can relax a little after that.

@Lunamoon23 I don't think we can take any lemsip or throat sweets, maybe try warm water with lemon and honey? and the paracetamol, I was also getting cold symptoms early on think pregnancy triggered them lasted 1/2 days

Sheth86 · 20/04/2024 10:40

Morning ladies. I started bleeding this morning, very light bleed, like a start of a period. Trying not to worry and take it easy today. Is there anything I should do or look out for? Xx

I think the advice is if its bright red or there are clots to call your local epu, but otherwise try not to worry. Its hard not to, but remember bleeding is perfectly normal! How far along are you? I had some bleeding aroubd 4-5 weeks too

I think I'm about six weeks. Had a private scan Thursday just gone and there was a sack there but couldn't see anything else but she said she doesn't have any concerns as it can be normal not to see anything this early xx

Yeah ill try not to worry. It was a bright pink if u like. And ever since its just been a tint to the toilet paper xx just have to see what happens xxx

@Lunamoon23 I was told not to take lempsip by a pharmacist last time. Something about the decongestant and your mucus plug. Try Paracetamol and honey and lemon. Get well soon.

MissMadam · 20/04/2024 11:23

Morning all, I’m so bloated I can barely button my work trousers. Anyone else hungry alllll the time and if you don’t eat get a bad taste in your mouth. I’m feeling pretty good otherwise last time I had morning sickness and now only nausea and the biggest change is I can eat.

I believe I’m 5+5 today! I don’t know if it’s the sun shining or the fact it’s the weekend but feeling positive...think it’s starting to properly sink in now as only found out on Wednesday. Cramps have eased today but like you, I'm checking every time I go to the toilet and always fearing the worst!

Molly4689 · 20/04/2024 12:11

@Lunamoon23 Haha of course, if you do decide to go down that route I promise the thought is much more scary than section (at least in my experience). I'll happily do it again!

@Harribo86 lots of time to decide but I'd always say go with your gut. I did a hypnobirthing course plus a yoga course with an ex midwife to explore all birth options before I went to the consultant to request it but it was always what I thought was best for me. I also watched Yorkshire Midwives on Call on BBC which is about home births and considered it briefly when I was about 37 weeks but because of where I live it would never have been possible.

Molly4689 · 20/04/2024 12:18

@Sheth86 I've had spotting. The EPU told me to come in if any bleeding to get it checked out but they only treat it as an emergency if filling pads. They wouldn't scan or examine me when I went in but did bring me back a few days later for a scan. May be worth contacting yours to see if they'd offer you an appointment or scan.

Thanks sweet, that's very helpful. I think I'm going to see if happens again as seems to have stopped now but if happens again I'll do that xxd

@MissMadam how many weeks are you? I'm just 4weeks today and oh my goodness the hunger is painful! Woke up at 3am feeling sick so thought I'd eat, went back to sleep woke again starving. Had some more toast at 8.30.

Just sent DH out for weetabix as I'm hungry again, worried about putting on so much weight!

Hi can I join? Still very early on but found out I'm due on Christmas day! Very surreal as was trying a longish time for our first but this second one is incredibly quick! Feeling lucky happy nervous and paranoid 😊

Yeah I do have plenty of time, so best to look into all the options. It's blowing my mind all there is to think about. Started reading 'The Modern Midwife's guide to pregnancy, birth and beyond.' It's a great read, helpful but also scaring me lol

CaptainCabinets · 20/04/2024 14:35

Hope everyone is getting on well!

My nausea seems to be settling a little (until I’m hungry and then I feel like I’m going to be sick!), but my god my TITS are so sore 😂
