I’ve written before about my anxiety over lack of movement. I know it can be super normal still at this stage but it’s my third pregnancy and you hear so much about each pregnancy movements are felt sooner.

My first I started to feel every single day in a few days, my second I’d felt them by this point but very, very sporadic. This time I have felt maybe 3 tiny tiny movements during the night 3 nights a go and then nothing.

I’m so unbelievably anxious I’m going to be told bad news tomorrow, I’ve borderline convinced myself of it! 😩

I hope your scan goes well tomorrow! As you’ve said, it’s completely normal to not feel movement at this stage. Every pregnancy is different and I know it’s hard but please don’t compare them because they won’t feel the same.
Baby movements don’t usually fall into a pattern until nearer the third trimester until then they might be sporadic and change times.

Hey OP. I’m nearly 24 weeks and only started feeling movement the last couple of weeks. My anxiety is also ridiculously bad. Don’t compare yourself to others it’ll make your worse, it’s one thing I’ve learnt since I fell pregnant. You’ll be fine! Good luck x

Yahyahs22 · 25/03/2024 08:44

I didn't feel anything with my 1st, 2nd and 3rd until 18+ weeks ! Don't stress

Lindy2 · 25/03/2024 08:45

16 weeks is very early for regular movements.

I hope all goes well and you are reassured.

Vallmo47 · 25/03/2024 08:46

I felt my first pregnancy movements much earlier than the second for some reason, maybe due to positioning? It’s still early days OP, easier said than done but try to relax. You will soon get the check over you need but stressing isn’t going to change anything. I know you can’t help anxiety. Take care

Ihearyousingingdownthewire · 25/03/2024 08:48

It’s so early for movements. I felt nothing until about 20-24 weeks.

OrganicAlchemy · 25/03/2024 08:53

I didn't feel anything until literally the evening after the 16 week scan 😃

excitedmama2be · 25/03/2024 09:53

I’m 21 weeks and won’t feel her unless she turns
her back is against my tummy and kicking towards placenta

Clearinguptheclutter · 25/03/2024 09:55

It’s very early. I had an anterior placenta which meant I barely felt anything before about 23/24 weeks, twice

wishing you all the best

LizzeyBenett · 25/03/2024 09:56

I didn't feel anything till 21 weeks which is completely normal good luck x

JRTfan · 25/03/2024 10:32

I am 27 weeks with an anterior placenta and although I feel movement now it's not in any kind of pattern really. I didn't feel anything concrete until 22 weeks definitely nothing at all before my 16 week gender scan. I had the same fears as you but all was fine.

Cronchy · 25/03/2024 14:27

I know it can be super normal still at this stage
is this not your answer? And you have felt some movement. Have you spoken to midwife about your anxiety? I Absolutely get the pre scan anxiety but not feeling much movement, at a point in your pregnancy where you’ve been told it’s too early to feel much movement, is not a reason for stress.

im saying this bluntly because it helps me with my anxiety to just think rationally and calmly and not lots of what ifs and buts. The facts are that at 16 weeks is too early for regular movement. And you have felt some movement. Just concentrate on that.

justasking111 · 25/03/2024 14:29

With the second found out that I was pregnant at 20 weeks. Not a peep out of baby then

SallyWD · 25/03/2024 15:04

I agree with others - I don't know anyone who felt movement at 16 weeks. For me it was closer to 20 weeks. Even then I didn't consistently feel movement for a few more weeks.

Blobfishy · 25/03/2024 15:28

I first fell movement when I was poorly with covid at 17 weeks (and I wonder if it was because I was lying still!). Most people say 17 weeks is unusually early!

L00k4m3x · 26/03/2024 08:17

Thank you everybody for the reaponses!! They have certainly put me at ease a little although I’ve got 3 hours to wait until my scan and I am VERY nervous! Will be sure to update you all once I’ve been and gone! ❤️

Could I please ask why you didn't know till you were pregnant until 20wks.

Because of PCOS I rarely had periods. Unlike the first baby I had zero morning sickness and was running around after a toddler. My life was so busy.

lilacsunbeam · 26/03/2024 11:10

Good luck OP! Flowers

L00k4m3x · 26/03/2024 13:09

Hi everyone! Scan went perfectly, baby is absolutely fine! Also found out it’s a little girl after having 2 boys already! I feel so relieved and having stopped crying happy tears! 😭🩷
