How soon after unprotected sex can you test for pregnancy

Just wondering when you can test for pregnancy. I have been off the pill for 3 days now and been having cramps, nausea, bloating and lots of trips to the bathroom needing to pee. Only started once I stoped the pill. Haven’t had a period since stopping and I had unprotected sex a week ago and the last 2 days. Thanks

You can’t get pregnant until you ovulate. On average it takes three weeks to ovulate after stopping the pill. If you have sex around the time of ovulation, then you can test for pregnancy two weeks after that.

All of those symptoms can be because you've stopped the pill. Unfortunately the time between ovulation and period can mimic pregnancy symptoms because you get the same initial rise in hormones. You could get pregnant straight away without getting a period first! But just to keep your feet on the ground, all those symptoms can be normal regardless of if you're pregnant or not.
Goodluck!

If you happened to be ovulating when you had unplanned sex a week ago, and you'd also had a slip up that made your pill less efficient, then there is a chance you could have fallen pregnant. However, 4dpo would be very early to start with the kind of symptoms you're describing. It usually takes at least 6 days for a fertilised egg to implant in the womb (which triggers the HCG and possible symptoms). It seems highly unlikely you'd be pregnant at this stage. As PPs said, it usually takes a couple of weeks at least to ovulated after coming off the pill. If you were going to test, I'd wait 2 weeks after you last had unprotected sex.

2 weeks for me. I ovulate on the dot. So 2 weeks after start of period, then positive 2 weeks after that. Had a few times it took over 2 weeks for a positive but that never ended well :/

Why are you so sure that you are pregnant? You have multiple threads about this even though you only came off the pill 3 days ago. You have a thread saying that you think you are pregnant but your partner doesn't want it. Why are you so sure?
