TMI bloody show question (no photos!)

Hey, I’m 39weeks and 5 days today. On Friday morning (it’s not Sunday morning) I lost some mucus plug with no blood and started getting period type pains in my stomach and back. I then had a sweep at my midwife appointment and my midwife said my cervix was ‘favourable’ like elastic and 3cms dilated! She could also feel babies head and said he was very low! Immediately after the sweep I bleed red blood (which she said was normal cervix irritation basically. It then turned to on and off light brown spotting (like the end of a period). I’ve been wearing a panty liner and there’s nothing on that just when I wipe. I’ve been getting very irregular contractions since Friday morning.

At 12:30am this morning I lost my bloody show. This is the major TMI part … it was a lot! Mucus was literally hanging out of me and I lost about a table spoon in one go which was snot like with some red streaks but mostly brown. I called triage as I was worried about the amount and they are not concerned about colour or amount. Since the I’ve had more intense but still irregular contractions (some coming every 5 minutes for an hour and then they drop off and come back!). However, I’m worried because it’s not 10am so 10 hours after my first bloody show and I’m still losing mucus with blood in it every time I wipe 😳 I’ve called triage again and they are still not concerned as it’s mucus and not free flowing blood. I’ve probably lost about 2 table spoons now in total! Still nothing on my panty liner just when I wipe! Any one else get this much mucus plug/bloody show? I hate seeing blood so much it’s so scary but no one else seems concerned! I feel like I’m constantly worried about placenta issues ☹️ Just waiting for contractions to get more intense and more consistent 🤞🤞

Yeah that’s normal. Try not to worry but ring triage again if you need reassurance.

i m 38 weeks 1st preg
just want to give you support
i trust the body doing what it should be doing
unless you have any emergency symptoms
I know easy say than done
relax might help
embrace the reaction from your body

whenever I see some change of my body if not emergency symptoms , I would be glad the preg is on track. Doing what it should be doing.

good luck!!

Thank you all! I did end up getting checked out in the end as I’m having pretty bad period pains but not coming in waves as such. I seem to go from period pains constantly to mild contractions to period pains agains. Everything is fine though and they have put the period pains down to cervical changes (she said last night that although I’m 3cm’s and it’s soft etc it’s still a little long so still has some ‘work’ to do). Just have to now trust my body to do it :)
