So I have stopped the pill 2 days ago and had unprotected sex the last two days. Will I get pregnant or just have my period ?
(I was on northesitrone pregestrone only pill)
thanks

Depends when in your cycle you stopped.

Pinkbonbon · 24/03/2024 01:05

They like to say its possible any time but realistically I doubt your body would ovulate the same week you finished them. I recon you're alright but don't take anymore chances.

If you don't get your usual withdrawal bleed then it might be time to worry.

It took 18 months after I came off the pill for my periods to come back and regulate. That doesn't mean I wasn't ovulating but it means it was all over the place for a while.

Always wear protection if you don't want kids moving forwards.

If you're trying for a baby then you may find it harder to predict your cycle for a while until it readjusts so that could affect things.

I got pregnant 3 days after stopping the pill. So it is very possible

Everyone is different really. People (like me!) can miss a pill and continue taking them and that’s enough of a gap to get pregnant!

Anything would be normal from immediately to many months later.

Awesome ! Thanks guys. Haven’t got my period yet but have been getting a few cramps.

Guess I will know in about 2 weeks whether I am or not

Implantation wouldnt happen that quickly though so unlikely cramps are pregnancy related .

Cantfindansweronline · 24/03/2024 13:14

Well I missed the first pill in a new packet… she’s just turned 21!😂

Totally depends. My mum stopped the pill and didn’t even have a withdrawal bleed as she fell pregnant with me. I stopped the pill and had a withdrawal bleed then a regular period month after then fell pregnant after that so quite quickly. My mum was 33, I was 35.

fungipie · 24/03/2024 18:19

For me, it was almost instantaneous.

TheCatOnMorrisseysHead · 24/03/2024 18:22

With my second I stopped my pill on December 1st and had a positive pregnancy test by 22nd. Must have literally ovulated that day. With my first it took months though.

Blue2020 · 24/03/2024 20:31

I conceived a few weeks after stopping it, ended up being a missed miscarriage though.

I had been on the pill for 6 years, and was not getting any periods for some time. I stopped, and periods did not return. So when to the gyneacologist to check everything was OK. He examined me and said 'you are 3 months pregnant' - exactly 3 months since I stopped the pill. Such a shock - but a happy one. I was very slim then, and didn't really put weight on during those 3 months, and never felt sick.

thanks for all your messages. It’s been really helpful. I am feeling a lot of cramps and bloating and nausea but no period yet… not sure what that means will have to wait to find out. But I hate waiting lol

If I read you right, you were on the mini pill? If so as you are aware, the dose is so low you have to take it the same time every day. It also works more by thinning the womb lining and not preventing ovulation. So it is definitely possible.

having new symptoms, including nausea, dizziness and needing to pee a lot. Is that just because I’m coming off the pill. I know it’s too early to test but I am worried I could be pregnant

@Cutekitty I had worse symptoms coming off the pill than the month I actually fell pregnant! We were convinced we’d done it straight away 🙈 but it did happen really quick after.
