Could it be braxton hicks? Does it come and go? Feel tight?

I take it you haven't had any bleeding or anything like that?

biglips · 28/03/2008 14:44

im unsure about the BH as i didnt have it with my DD. yes it does come and go and i do look like im about 6m pg!! not sure about the tightness but poss no.

no no probs at all -eg bleeding

BH are normally a lot more evident in second + pregnancies, also with first pregnancies many people do have them but don't know about it, apparently.

I think if it is coming and going, it probably is BH.

Does your bump kind of feel heavier when the pain is there? Heavier is the wrong word, more apparent?

biglips · 28/03/2008 14:50

not heavy but it looks bigger when its aching

Yes, sounds like BH.

You can take paracetamol if it get's very bad, or just try and rest for a while when they start.

All part of the fun of it I'm afraid!

thank you nataliejane

its all new to me even though this is my 2nd pg.

i just had a bath to relax my tummy and now its aching again

oh joy!

I'm thinking it might get a bit more painful in labour. Is that the right answer?!

biglips · 28/03/2008 14:56

aaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh no!!!!

I hit my elbow the other day at work and thought f*cking hell that huuuuuuurts, and then thought, ohh shit, labour is going to be just so much worse than this!!

aiti72 · 28/03/2008 15:09

I had the same, dull ache which I didn't have when pregnant with my first (and yes, my bumb is much bigger this time) up until around 20 weeks. I'm 23 weeks now and ache has gone, my midwife didn't seem concerned when I told her about the ache at the time.

I had an irritable uterous in my last pregnancy, basically was getting strong contractions from 33 weeks until 41+ weeks, the contractions did absolutely nothing as in dilation or anything like that, however, they did tone my uterous rather well, and I had a 2 hour labour, with 4 minutes of pushing

The BH are there for a reason, they may be a complete pain in the arse (or belly ) but they do a job, and IMO a job very worth while
