Anyone else tested super early and due December 2024? This is my 2nd pregnancy after a mmc 2 days after my 12 week scan in December and actual miscarriage in January.

Hoping this will be the 1 that sticks and is healthy. Think my due date is Dec 3rd

@RedRobyn2021 oh really?? I didn't know you could get them after, how strange!

I guess I'll just have to wait and see! What will be will be, but definitely agree about the changes in your body.
I can't believe how big my ass is getting 😂😂

Had a midwife appointment today, first time measuring bump, and it's right on track which is good news! Also had to have my anti-D injection which wasn't pleasant, that needle was huge! And bloods to check iron levels.
Starting to discuss the birth plan now, i was referred to the prenatal team at the start of pregnancy due to a history of depression and anxiety, so going to have a set in stone birth plan (of course unless any thing transpires unexpectedly) which is making me feel quiet reassured.

She's encouraged me to start talking to baby often now as he can hear properly now 💙 so was chatting away while cooking dinner haha.

@Lunamoon23

That's lovely

Have you thought about your birth choices?

I didn't enjoy writing mine last time 😂 I know it's important but I struggled with it. I really recommend home birth if that's something you've considered and there's support in your area, I had one with my first 3 years ago. Birthing in water is also a huge relief, it helped me relax and stopped the contractions from being painful. Tens machine is good too x

Lunamoon23 · 19/09/2024 22:00

@RedRobyn2021 yes, I've opted for a ELCS. I have tokophobia, I knew before getting pregnant and spoke with my GP about it prior and always knew a Csection would be the way I'd have to go.
For me the unknowns of a vaginal birth send me into a spiral. Since my meeting with the consultant who was great - I've felt much more at ease but of course still extremely nervous.
I annoyingly have a pretty bad fear of hospital settings too. So it's going to be tough for me ether way! But my midwife has been a great advocate for me. And my husband fully gets it so will be a great voice for me on the day.

I wish I could have a home birth, but I'd be way too scared! Have you decided what you're doing this time round? Xxx

RedRobyn2021 · 20/09/2024 06:01

@Lunamoon23 it will be so lovely to know exactly when your baby is coming, that's exciting. I bet you have a beautiful experience.

I'm going to have a home birth again, I'm feeling quite nervous about it to be honest. I just find labour daunting and not knowing when they'll come, my daughter was so late and I found that hard to manage. Also all the change and I'm worried about how I'll manage with 2 and breastfeeding again. My 3yo daughter still doesn't sleep through and always wants to come in with us around 3am, I'm worried about that too 🙈

We spent 9 months trying to conceive this baby, she's all I wanted and now I just worry.

LilyJessie · 20/09/2024 11:54

I have heard of these sleeping tablets. My midwife let me know about them at my last appt and said to keep an eye on it if I'm not sleeping. It doesn't help I do shift work either I don't think!!
Apparently now we are all gonna start being tired again! Can't wait... I'm not sure I have stopped from the beginning haha!

My mum had an ELCS for me, and said the night before she was in the bath and she kept staring at her belly thinking "I finally meet my baby tomorrow" and was so excited.

As a self identified control freak, I one hundred percent will struggle to take it in my stride when she decides to come along!! Crazy isn't it! But exciting all the same.

Also, stupid question, what "week" is third trimester? 27 or 28? It keeps changing depending what I read!

Lunamoon23 · 20/09/2024 15:30

@RedRobyn2021 it allows me to feel a little more in control of the situation which has really helped my anxiety from going into overdrive. The consultant I saw thinks it'll be the week of the 9th of December, possibly even the 9th because I'll be exactly 39 weeks on that day. 🤞🏼 I'm just hoping labour doesn't start before my scheduled date, because although I'll still get the csection, it won't be the same situation as a planned one as such.. but it'll be what it'll be!

Completely get being anxious though, firstly no two births are even the same are they? And I can only imagine the transition from 1 to 2 will be a huge adjustment too! How has your little one taken to the idea of having a sibling? I'm planning to breastfeed, my midwife has directed me to a breastfeeding masterclass in November which I'm going to attend as a beginner I've no clue! 😂 I'm not the type of person though who'll be devastated is breastfeeding doesn't pan out - if I have to give up and switch to formula I'm ok with that, aslong as baby is fed and healthy, x

Oh really, I wouldn't have thought you'd be able to take sleeping tablets while pregnant! You'll have to advise us what they are!
Although I've been quite lucky, besides acid reflux waking me up I've been sleeping really well.. my tiredness hasn't been too bad ether! Considering I'm on my feet all day at work with probably only a 15 minute sit down break I'm feeling pretty good!

Any the third trimester starts at week 28 I believe! From what I've googled and from what my pregnancy app tells me anyways! Crazy to think I'll be the 3rd trimester from Monday!! It's flown by.

Um she seems happy about it but I also think she's been a bit worried about the transition, I've had to do a lot of reassuring.

I wasn't bothered about breastfeeding when I had my first either, I didn't do any research at all, all I thought about was the birth. But when she was here I can't explain in, I just felt absolutely compelled to do it. The actual feeding itself was fine once my midwife helped me (I literally didn't have a clue; I didn't even know how to hold a baby because I never had) but the transition of being needed by one person so so much was really hard.

I follow this lovely lady on instagram called Olivia Hinge and she talks loads about breast & bottle feeding, I just got her book actually on audible it's called "a judgement free guide to feeding your baby, boob, bottle & all" it's a great book so far

Lunamoon23 · 20/09/2024 16:07

@RedRobyn2021 oh bless, I'm sure it'll be a big change! But once baby is here I'm sure they'll love it. My mum always said my sister was anxious for my arrival, but once I arrived she wouldn't leave me alone 😂

That is one of my concerns about breastfeeding, is that I literally won't get a break, whereas with formula feeding, at least DH can take over from time to time. I'm just going to go into it with trial and error, I'll do my best but know I need to look after myself to be my best for him as-well. So we will see! I know you can express milk too, but I've heard that's a task within itself.
How long did you breastfeed for?

Unfortunately I'm really not a reader! But I've just given that lady a follow on insta! So will have a flick through later tonight! I've got a maternity shoot this evening, we booked a bundle with maternity and newborn - it isn't really my thing but strangely it was cheaper to pay for both than just one or the other! So trying to hype myself up to embrace that haha!

LilyJessie · 20/09/2024 23:23

@Lunamoon23 I will do, if I book the drs appt if sleeping doesn't get better!
Maybe I misunderstood her, but she said a Dr will be able to give you something to help you sleep... So maybe something else! Lord knows.
Get thrown so much info at these appts I don't know if I'm coming or going sometimes!

@Lunamoon23 I have my anti-d injection next week, is it awful? 🙈

Although I said it wasn't pleasant, I have a needle phobia, and I saw the needle, which is big... So I think the thought of it was far worse than it actually was! That was my mistake.

It stung a little when the liquid is going in, but other than that it was honestly fine! I didn't even get a sore arm after like I did with the whooping cough vaccine. X

A long time!

3 years!

Time just went on and she got older, she only breastfed at bedtime when we stopped, I was the one that stopped it because I thought it was stopping me from conceiving, I was wrong though because I was actually pregnant at the time. It made her sad stopping which was heartbreaking but I remind myself that 3 years is a long time and not a lot of women do it that long.

It worked out well anyway, because I have HG and wouldn't have managed continuing plus I never wanted to tandem feed. Those early days breastfeeding are intense.

Orelinde · 25/09/2024 08:17

Morning all,

I was worried about reduced foetal movement last night, so went in and it was all completely fine. The midwives were so lovely and said you must go in, you know your baby best and if you’re worried, go. She gave me some tips for stimulating baby to move next time (a shower, a big cold drink, playing music or making noise near the bump, and shining a light on the bump). Also, I asked her how long I should wait with reduced movement and was 12 hours too long, and she said yes, 12 hours was too long to not have any movement and definitely call before then.

It was such a nice experience and she saved me from feeling like a muppet, so I thought I’d share it!

CatCaretaker · 25/09/2024 08:25

@Orelinde how many weeks are you? Nobody has said anything to me about this at any routine appointment (although, of course, I am aware of it). Maybe someone will mention it at my 28 week check.

I've been recording her movements when I notice them for about a week now, but I can't say I really know her pattern yet (apart from usually after food and in the evening on the couch (which is also after food so I'm not sure whether it's the food or just that I'm not being distracted by anything and notice her more)).

Orelinde · 25/09/2024 08:32

@CatCaretaker I was 27+6 when I went in. I’m having a couple more appointments than the major ones, and reduced movement has been mentioned at my last two midwife apps and my obstetrician app at 24 weeks (obviously for once you begin feeling them!).

This is my first baby and they have been very wriggly and active for at least the last 10 days, so I’ve been keeping a note. They seem to move most after dinner, but there are usually many small bursts of definite, strong movement during the day, and yesterday I had only felt a few very small and feeble flutters and v little after dinner. As it turns out, all fine and they’re back to wriggling away this morning!

CatCaretaker · 25/09/2024 09:51

@Orelinde that's great!

GammaTheGecko · 25/09/2024 15:21

So lovely to hear about your experience @Orelinde, thanks for sharing!

I can say I've had a similar positive experience going in for fetal monitoring, so definitely want to encourage people to go if they're worried :) Mine was actually for the opposite reason, I got woken up at 4am by her moving around like crazy, almost frantically, and the kicks were strong enough to wake me which was a first - it didn't help that I woke up on my back which is rare so I was especially worried! I phoned at 8am and they said to go in, and they were all lovely and very sweet and reassuring, and I got to listen to her heartbeat, kicks and hiccups for a whole hour which was nice <3

Orelinde · 25/09/2024 17:58

@GammaTheGecko that sounds wonderful! 😊

LilyJessie · 26/09/2024 19:21

@Orelinde Thank you for telling us all this, great to hear you had a great experience.

Molly4689 · 26/09/2024 21:09

Hope everybody is doing well?

I had a midwife appointment this week and from my 28 week bloods I'm anemic. Have had low folate but had been on medication for that for a few weeks now and feeling better overall but still struggling with headaches and breathlessness. Has anybody experienced this? I'm just wondering if I'll see a benefit to taking iron soon or my symptoms are likely to last the rest of my pregnancy. Work aren't supportive in anyway!

Baby is also breech but luckily I'm already booked for a section!

Hello @Molly4689,

I had the same bloods last week, thankfully I'm not anemic. But I've read a lot that the iron tablets can turn things around pretty quickly, I've also read that people start increasing foods that contain natural folate and see vast improvements so hopefully you'll start to see a difference in a week or two. How low were you?

Also, fellow c sectioner! 👋🏼 how you feeling about it? Xxx

CatCaretaker · 27/09/2024 07:10

@Molly4689 how many weeks are you? Sorry for the ignorance, but if you're (we're all) due in December, can baby be breech already?

HelterSkelter224 · 27/09/2024 14:27

Hi ladies how are we all feeling?

Just been to see my consultant (previous c-section birth and pre-eclampsia) and she answered lots of questions which was helpful, but I've provisionally booked a c-section on my due date in the hope that I go into spontaneous labour before. That way I can (hopefully) avoid induction with c-section being the alternative. I'm 40 so they won't schedule c-section any later.

I had a really traumatic birth which I put down to a terrible induction experience (lots of mistakes made, gaslighting, not listening to my concerns etc) which ended up in an emergency c-section. Feeling super anxious about it all and now I have time to think about what a c-section actually means I find it quite scary. Obviously last time being swooped into emergency surgery didn't give me much time to contemplate risks and benefits! That said the c-section went quite smoothly.

I've been referred to a specialist team (forget the name) which will support me through the process of planning the birth, that conversation hasn't happened yet and I feel nervous about having just taken a massive step by nailing down down a date and a plan of action.

Anyone else had a previous traumatic birth and how are you coping with preparing for the upcoming birth?
