Sick with fear! Clearblue digi was 3+ yesterday and it says 2-3 today

I’m 5 weeks today

Yesterday at 4+6 I got 3+, in the afternoon with a 4 hour hold and nothing to drink

This afternoon something told me to take the last test just to be sure. 3 hour hold (drunk 500ml of water in this time) and I got 2-3.

I feel SICK. I had a loss before this pregnancy and Clearblue never got above 2-3, and eventually dropped to 1-2. I’m terrified that the same thing could be happening again. You’d think even with more diluted urine 24 hours on I’d be over the threshold for 3+!!

I’ve taken apart the tests to compare the lines, top is yesterday bottom is today. So frightened.

Anyone had this?

Don't panic, it's likely the amount you drunk that dropped you down to 2-3. With only 24h between the tests I really wouldn't worry at this stage. Wait a couple of days and test again, you'll likely be back up to 3+

I know it's hard after a loss, believe me. But remember that the majority of pregnancies end in a healthy baby, and the odds are in your favour, no matter what happened in the past.

You drank more and held for less time.
you’re also barely 3+ weeks from ovulation. You may be hovering around the threshold
they’re also not 100% accurate.
I do know it’s hard after a loss but try not to test so frequently.

I’ve just test now and it’s back up to 3+. The relief is unreal. I am not touching a Clearblue again now, that’s it. Is it a worry would you say to hover round the threshold for 24h? I thought HCG was supposed to double every 48h so for it not to increase in half that time is a bit worrying

Did you also post this in the Nov thread? I get a sense that regardless of what anyone says you’re looking to hear something else - or that no amount of reassuring will help.

-the tests are notoriously unreliable and you’re probably right on the threshold.
-the latest one was diluted with water
-everyones Hcg is different and you’re lines are still really strong.
-if your lines were dropping drastically I’d understand moreso but honestly it seems you are sending yourself into meltdown!

-as far as I’m aware no other symptoms?

put the tests away and if you really need reassurance ask your EPU for hcg blood tests until your first scan.

was it you who also panicked today over some perfume in your mouth but using a diff username? If so you are going to make yourself ill with this much worry. Have you thought about speaking to someone? A counsellor or support service?

x

Yes all me!! I’m ringing the GP and sending a message to the community midwife tomorrow. I’ve always been anxious but never quite like this. Thank you x

In the nicest way possible you are irrationally catastrophising - I understand it’s hard after loss, I’ve had an ectopic and I’m waiting for a first scan, but this is clearly consuming you.
you could always try a private counsellor for a few sessions or even a session of clinical hypnotherapy. X

Yes, you’re right. It’s particularly bad today but I didn’t sleep so much last night and that previously has been a trigger for me. Early night tonight and I’m reaching out tomorrow for support. You’re right that worrying so much isn’t healthy especially not when things are beyond your control. Thank you for your help :-)

i was obsessed with these tests at the beginning of my pregnancy. I got a 3+ and then went back to 2-3 and I was so worried I called the EPU. It’s easier said than done but do try to stop using them. I’m 30 weeks pregnant now.

LBNM19 · 19/03/2024 21:24

Also to add I sat googling for ages to find similar experiences etc and mine never raised with the expected time scales.
