Pregnancy unknown location

Hello, I am 6 weeks pregnant and I had an early scan which showed a pregnancy of unknown location (PUL). My hcg level was very low , around 170. They are doing repeat bloods Monday to see if levels have risen etc. has anyone had any success stories with a PUL or has it just ended in miscarriage. The doctor did say to expect a loss but it’s never 100%…. Any happy stories?! Already lost a baby at 21 weeks and just feeling hopeless

Hey I’m going thru the same and wanted to know your outcome
I too pul - no sign of pregnancy in the uterus but HCG rising I’m back for repeat scan today at a different hospital so worried they can’t find it I have no bleeding just cramping like pressure in my uterus

I’ve seen lots of similar posts which have ended positively - some women get their dates wrong or ovulation occurred late and so returning a few weeks later they’ve seen sac/heartbeat etc.

However, what I would say is that if you are quite certain of your dates and you are defo 6 weeks then it doesn’t look too hopeful. Obviously the rage for ‘normal’ HCG is huge but I would say 170 is low for 6 weeks.

I had a PUL and hcg of 151 at 6 weeks, 2 days later I began to miscarry.

I really hope it’s positive news when you return. It’s not over till it’s over. 🧡

@afewtoomanychoices im so so sorry to hear that. I’m heart broken for you. It’s such an emotional roller coaster. I’ve got an NHS appointment tomorrow and I just want to know either way how this pregnancy is progressing. The waiting has been agony.

I had a PUL in 2022. Slow, but rising HCG following a 'period' and low progesterone. I miscarried naturally at 5+6. Currently 5+5 with another PUL, exact same situation. Hope it resolves itself the same way tbh.

PurpleOrchids12345 · 26/09/2024 06:35

@SaltedPotato thank you for sharing. At 5+5 isn’t it too early as most advice sites say repeat scans are needed? What does your scan show?

SaltedPotato · 26/09/2024 13:39

Haven't had a scan. I've had serial bloods. But I've had a PUL previously and this is mirroring that exactly. Previously my scan showed an empty uterus with a lining too thin to sustain a pregnancy (because I'd had a full period already). Rising HCG below where it is typically at that time, low progesterone again not able to sustain a pregnancy.

@SaltedPotato really sorry to hear that. Pregnancy is such emotional turmoil and torture. Sending lots of strength x
