Hi there. What precautions/preventive measures to consider to prevent preterm delivery ? Opinion about cervical cerclage/ progesterone supplementation?

Have you had a preterm baby? Are you pregnant now?
I had a preterm baby (24 weeks). Before getting pregnant again I requested to see a consultant to discuss options. The consultant did a cervical weakness test under GA and found out that I have a very weak cervix.
at 16 weeks I had a cervical stitch put in place with epidural and had weekly progesterone injections . I also had regular scans (every 2-4 weeks). This was removed at 36 weeks-ish and baby arrived at 41 weeks.
It was about 10 years ago so hopefully treatment has improved even more since then!
hope this helps.

Regular cervical ultrasounds and I took a tablet, can’t remember what it was, one of the female hormones I think???

Cause of preterm birth was unknown and the second one was late, despite my bag being packed from 24 weeks!

Edited

ignore my questions. It’s none of our business! I think I was thinking if you’re not pregnant yet but planning, it might be worth asking for consultation before you get pregnant but they may only do this if you’ve had a preterm birth.
