Fibroid pain in pregnancy

Hi, I'm currently 29+5 and for the last 4 days I've been struggling with what I now know is fibroid pain.

Baby girls head is pushing down onto a subserosal fibroid that have have just above my cervix. The location is possibly going to cause other problems (not being able to have a natural birth) which I'm trying not to worry about at the minute. I've been prescribed dihydrocodeine and this has taken the edge off but I still have some pain and struggle with standing up straight.

I just feel myself getting so down with the pain. I've been happily plodding through pregnancy with only usual worries and it just feels like as soon as I've hit 29 weeks....the enjoyment has gone. Has anyone experienced painful fibroids? Does the pain eventually go away? Or am I stuck with this for the next 10 weeks?

Hello! Congratulations on your pregnancy.

I had fibroid pain from hell in my first pregnancy. It took a while to be diagnosed (suspected appendicitis, MRI scans, a full week in hospital…) and I was prescribed cocodamol for the remainder of my pregnancy (6months!!).

However, I went to see an Acupunturist and after two treatments was completely meds-free. The fibroid continued to cause problems like reflux (it was massive and as the baby grew it moved and pushed against my stomach), but the pain was completely gone. It also caused no issues during the birth.

Wishing you a pain free and happy reminder of your pregnancy x
