Negative result but still pregnant?

Hello
My period is nearly 2 months late which is a little unusual for me, although they are often rather irregular.
I have been having some of the "symptoms" of pregnancy - feeling sick, funny taste in my mouth, needing to wee more, heartburn etc. - in fact, the exact same things that my mum had when she first found out she was expecting me.
However, I have taken two home pregnancy tests and both are negative.
I remember when I was younger my aunt didn't find out she was pregnant for a while because the hormones never showed up on the urine test, even at 6 months or so.
I was wondering if I could have the same problem?
Sorry for the long message I was just hoping someone would have some similar experience to share!
Thanks,
LittleLadybird

My period was late this month - usually I am pretty regular. Took a test when I was 1 day late - negative. Then no period so took a test at 5 days late still negative.

Tested today (3 weeks late) and its positive! Am in shock though.

Were you hoping to be pregnant? If so, congratulations.

Thrilled! But a little horrified at the wine drank and soft white cheese consumed over Easter since my "negative" result. But trying to put that behind me but still feel bad about it.

this happened to me too... Are you on any medication?

Get an appointment with the doctors too..

I am now 32weeks!!

nappyaddict · 26/03/2008 19:26

How many weeks have people been and still had a negative urine test?

LittleLadybird · 26/03/2008 20:22

I'm not on any medication at all.
I have tried to make an appointment with the doctor but the (very helpful..) receptionist told me that unless it was an emergency they were very busy and to try again in a week or so!
I will test again in a day or two, or hope that my period comes, it's the not knowing that is bothering me.

Yep - I had 3 negative results from CD28 to CD38 - eventually got a BFP on CD38

Youcannotbeserious · 26/03/2008 20:35

LLB - Don't let them give you the brush off!! My drs did that to me and said that if my HPT was negative then there was no way I was PG - but I was!!!

They must be able to make an appt. for you next week? Otherwise, tell them it IS an emergency.

Did you have any stress or unusual activity (like travelling) around the time you usually ovulate 2 months ago? Sometimes ovulation can be delayed or even stop altogether if you are stressed. I hat a 68 day cycle last year when we almost got evicted. I had a bunch of symptoms but they kept coming & going which I think was my body trying & failing to ovulate...think I got a withdrawal bleed in the end & my cycles have been regular again ever since.

If you do think you are pregnant though then defo try to get an appt for a blood test to get a difinitive answer...your surgury should give you an appt within 48 hours - looks like they need reminding of that

nappyaddict · 26/03/2008 21:13

i know someone who was 16 weeks and still getting negative tests.

LittleLadybird · 26/03/2008 22:38

I will definitely be phoning up the surgery again then. It would be just my luck that I'd be the one not showing up on the home pregnancy test! I don't remember having any stress or anything but perhaps that could be the answer.
Thanks everyone
