Private maternity care at different hospitals

Hello!

We are considering going private for maternity care and I can’t work out if it’s possible to do pre-natal scans / blood tests with one private hospital and to give birth at another private hospital.

We are intending to give birth privately at St Thomas London as our our friends recently did and had a good experience and we intend to use their Obstetrician as well. It is also reasonably close to our house. However due to where I work, it would be more convenient to do our prenatal scans and blood tests at Portland Hospital (and having looked at the packages, it’s slightly cheaper as well for what we want).

Does anyone have any experiences with this / does this create any issues? I guess what I couldn’t work out is if your Obstetrician is involved in any of your scans / tests or does it not really matter?

many thanks in advance!

We went private at St Thomas too (they are amazing) and got our scans and NIPT privately at Fetal medicine clinic on Harley St as per our consultant’s suggestion. So I don’t think it matters as they will just review the results.

Thank you!! That’s super helpful to note (and relieved that someone else had a good experience at St Thomas).

Hi @notmyring another question - do you know what they recommend the fetal medicine centre for those tests / was it all good? Did you do all scans there? Thanks
