Ct scan while pregnant

I'm currently 21 weeks. I'm sitting in hospital awaiting a ct scan of my brain after I collapsed earlier.
Theh said all the radiation goes to my brain but I still feel really uncomfortable. I'm wondering has anyone had a ct scan of their brain while pregnant. I feel really uneasy about it..
I've refused xray of chest and have had my urine and blood tests done awaiting results and I believe obstretian is coming to check the baby is OK.

I haven't had a ct scan pregnant but I have held my sons had while he had had ct scans where as for xrays I have had to stand behind the screen so I assume the radiation doesn't spead like it does with an xray.

I hope all is OK for you.

I had a ct scan on my kidneys (was a full body scan) at 16 weeks and was fine - they even showed me the scan afterwards and could see baby in there! I was assured it’s safe. If I’ve had one that will have penetrated my stomach I would think the brain is fine.

I had a chest ct scan mid 20 weeks I think it was. They put something over my bump. Then once baby was born he had a couple of heel prick blood tests to ensure everything was all ok with thyroid I think it was.

Hope you’re ok @CoconutGirI - did everything go ok with your ultrasound scan after the pain from the cat incident? Hope everything’s ok with your CT scan - I know how scary it can be when you don’t know what might be wrong with you.

Just to update. I went ahead with scan but we still havent got to bottom of it. I didn't want the ct scan as I was told risk is minimal but not zero but nobody was really explaining to me the risks exactly but in the end i felt backed into a corner to have the ct scan as they refused to check if the baby was ok until I was deemed fit enough even tho i felt perfectly fine again after I came around.
Brain scan was fine but my HR and BP were elevated 130+bpm all day and at around 10pm they finally sent me for an ecg , which I thought was odd as felt considering the above that should have been done first. My bp and heart rate came down immediately after they sent me up to monitor the baby and i knew baby was ok. They still are now suspecting it may be something to do with my cardiac rhythm as everything else was clear. I was told I'd be hooked up monitoring me all night until a cardiac Dr could come in morning but I actually discharged myself around 1am as I was left in a corridor bed not hooked upto anything and I had no breakfast , lunch or dinner as was in a&e the whole day. I felt faint from not eating and they told me they would get me food but 2 hours later still nothing. At around midnight I asked again and finally was given 1 slice of toast. I just felt awful and I was so hungry and felt 1 slice of toast to eat in a day was making me feel even more as I was dizzy from lack of food and thought this isn't good for me or my baby's health either not eating all day to the extent of feeling unwell during the night hours as a result so I ended up discharging myself just so I could go home and have a proper sleep as corridor was so noisy and bright and I had some food before bed. I'm feeling quite drained and extremely stressed about having the scan which probably isn't helping my health. I guess I'm worried about radiation scatter as they didn't use a lead apron

@Lillers yes everything was fine after that incident with cat jumping on my belly. Was a bit crampy and sore for few days but i had a private ultrasound on Thursday night and baby was happy as can be. They did give me an ultrasound yesterday at hospital aswell as I was so worried after collapsing on sat morning and while i was collapsed i lost control of my bladder so they checked it wasn't my waters after collapsing but baby was ok thankfully plenty of movement from little one and they swabbed me and checked amniotic fluid and are happy everything is fine

I had a brain CT when pregnant. Just focused on the brain and didn't use a lead apron or anything. I never thought about risks at the time as was so out of it! But sat here now with a 6 week old x

You've only been exposed to the same amount of radiation that you'd get from living in Cornwall for a few months.

Hey @Ems1992, just wondering did you have a chest, abdo and pelvis scan or was it just on your abdomen?

Hi!
it was full body I believe, well, full torso. Baby was visible, as were my kidneys etc (I had a kidney blockage from a stone!)

Thanks for replying! When did you have this done? Sounds painful re Kidney stone blockage!
