Where to buy a maternity dress for a wedding???

I am going to a wedding on the 12th April and will be 36Wks+2Days. I'd really like to wear a nice dress but am struggling to find something nice and fairly cheap! I don't want to spend loads as I'll probably never wear it again. Maybe £40 at the most.
Any ideas???
xx

Hmm, tough one. I just bought a lovely brown dress from Gap (nicer than it sounds) - can't remember how much it was but it was def under £50 - maybe even £35. Have a look on their website. Only other stuff I've seen is on Isabella Oliver & that's def too expensive for a one-off.

Personally I'd buy something more expensive from Isabella Oliver, Seraphine, Crave or similar and then re-sell it on ebay! Or look on ebaby to see what there is now.

ebaby you know what I meant!

i have bought one from jjmb which is quite nice (black silk, lots of it, but i think quite elegant if accessorized properly). size 12 and i am in london. if you are anywhere near i would be glad to lend it to you (going to a wedding this saturday)

milkmoustache · 26/03/2008 18:22

or get a cheapish wrap dress and spend your money/imagination on the accessories - remember your amazing cleavage will be the main accessory!

Blooming Marvellous did a nice one a couple of years ago that I got for a wedding, might be worth checking their website.

I just bought a gorgeous dress for a wedding from pumpkin and patch- not on their website though but a really pretty, floaty silk knee length dress- with a jersey underdress that would accomodate all sizes! Looked great with a wrap. It was £34 quid, I nearly cried with joy when I found it- had been looking for ages...

I ordered dresses from picchu as part of this quest- but I found them too clingy for me (guess depends on what kind of style you liked pre-pregnancy). Also ordered a dress from jojomamanbebe- really pretty but way too long on me (I'm 5 foot 4). They had nice kneelength ones on the website also.

cheap wrapdress and nice jewellry you'll wear after?

Thanks for the help everyone! I do really like that Next one PigleyChez but have found one on Ebay. The auction didn't end until less than a week before the wedding so I emailed the seller and they did it on a Buy It Now option, so now have it for £15 and it should arrive ASAP. Then if it looks naff it can go back on Ebay and I might get that Next one instead!

Im in the same dilema

I bought a few from Isabella Oliver and they are really nice but not great on the bum (on me anyway). I am not mad about things that cling too much so I am going to return them.

Shops in London, i went to Pretty Pregnant, that have a nice red silk dress there. Mamas and Papas have a nice kimono style dress which is on their website.
Pregancy1, were you talking about the brown dress with the silver ribon around the waste and the little cardigan/wrap to go with it, i tried it on and it is really nice so that could be a runner as it was simple and pretty.

I tried Seraphine, Crave and a few other boutiques which I thought would definitely have nice dresses but they were far too slinky and I didn't think they had a good choice sadly.

Not sure if Banana Republic do maternity wear, they opened recently didn't they?

Saw those dresses on Next aswell and they are lovely but I am sick of ordering online now and time is not on my side.

Good luck

I too am going to a wedding in june (i will be 4 months pg) and a wedding in november 2 weeks before due date so i need 2 dresses or 1 that will do for both if that is even achievable

slinkiemalinki · 27/03/2008 21:55

Banana don't do maternity wear. Places like Seraphine and IO are not within the budget but good luck with eBay and otherwise Next, M&P and Jojo are good options! Good luck, I will have exactly this dilemma but have until August Bank to worry about it!
