Hello
i went for a private scan when I was 7 weeks and 1 day (assuming my cycle was 4 weeks) however the scan showed a gestational sac with no yolk sac or fetus. I was then referred to hospital and they scanned me 4 days later, which showed the same, although the sonographer thought she could make out the yolk sac. I’m now booked in for a rescan end of next week and the wait is just making me go mad!
ive got all the symptoms - sore boobs, heartburn, nausea, cravings, metallic taste in my mouth and also my belly is super bloated (I’ve had 2 kids already so maybe my womb has expanded quicker?!)

Are there any success stories of people who have experienced this in their pregnancies and for pregnancies were viable? I’m just not sure why my symptoms are increasing rather than going down!!

i am not 100% certain on my dates because my period fluctuates and I have had almost 6 weeks between my cycles regularly, although the cycle before my pregnancy one was 4 weeks.

thank you!

I honestly think this could go either way however the symptoms thing means nothing. I had a mmc last year, baby died at 11 weeks but my symptoms continued and even got worse. Morning sickness was intense, belly grew etc. I ended up miscarrying at 14 weeks.

However as you are early and you're not certain of dates... This could easily be a healthy pregnancy. I think without checking your hcg levels with blood tests 48 hours apart, you won't know. Not without waiting for the scans of course! Fingers crossed for you x

Ahh sorry to hear that :(

it’s strange because I asked the consultant about blood tests and checking for oh and she said they wouldn’t do that in this case, they’d only do blood tests if they suspect ectopic.

I guess I’m just worried because both of my previous pregnancies I had no issue like this, I went for private scans both times (although just after 8 weeks) but everything was normal.

thank you though x

Similar thing with me

Went for an early scan (would have been 6 weeks 1 day according to my calculations) only to discover there was a sac but no yolk. Was then admitted to the hospital advised I was measuring 5 weeks 3 days The midwife called the doctor in who advised it could be because I'm so early.
I have to go back Sunday for repeat blood tests but I'm absolutely terrified.

Fingers crossed for you! Let me know how it goes. The doctor I saw was a bit clueless. She had a piece of paper on her that said something about 6 weeks and 4 days and when I asked her she said that’s how many weeks you are based on your LMP which wasn’t true because I would have been 7 weeks and 5 days and I just went with it as had no idea what she was on about. She also said bloods wouldn’t show anything different to what they’ve seen on scan.

Thanks darl they rang and said my levels are high above 3k which means that there should be signs on the scan. Got to have repeated bloods tomorrow. I can't sleep or eat in just in constant panic.

Fingers crossed you get good news

Hello. Sorry I'm new here but have had the same this week so wondering how you're getting on? I had a private scan yesterday at 6w+5 with gestational sac but no yolk or fetal pole. Today I had one with NHS which confirmed the same thing, so they said it's a pregnancy of uncertain viability and a rescan in 2 weeks time. Have also had some very light spotting today and yesterday which I didn't have with my first pregnancy. Meanwhile I'm panicking a lot!

Hi there

I'm so sorry you're going through this it's such a worrying time. So for me I had a private scan last Friday and thought I may be aprox 6 weeks 1 day. The sonographer was able to locate the sack but no yolk and deemed it an 'pregnancy in an unknown location' and advised I may be having a molar or eptopic pregnancy.

I went to the hospital the same day as had back pains, based on the measurements they advised I was 5 weeks 3 days and advised my hgc levels needed to be taken and repeated in 48 hours. They advised my hgc levels needed to rise at least 60 % for it to be positive. Again they could see a sac but no yolk or fetal pole/, heart beat.

I think my first reading was aprox 3300 (this is not exact it could be higher) and was advised with this figure more should be seen on the scan. Sunday I had repeat bloods and was advised my hgc levels had risen to 6000 which was not 60%.

Went in Monday again for a rescan, this time was advised I was 5vweeks 1 day And everything was seen including the flickering of baby beans heart flickering.

Manifesting good news for you ♥️

Hi, my scan showed the exact same as 2 weeks ago and so unfortunately it’s a missed miscarriage. I’m having a small surgery next week to remove the pregnancy. Sorry I couldn’t give you better news but there’s nothing to say yours will be the same as me so good luck x

Just to update anyone that was reading this post... I started to miscarry naturally yesterday unfortunately, at almost 8 weeks. Hoping the next few days go quickly...still have a scan booked for next week but I guess they'll just confirm this. Thanks for the kind wishes.

I’m so sorry to heart this. Stay strong and I hope the pain isn’t too bad.

i just had the SMM for my failed pregnancy today. Being kept in hospital under observation as apparently I lost a lot of blood during the procedure and was anaemic to start with too. It went quick but I did cry afterwards when the doctor told me she’d removed everything.
