Baby bump, baby movements felt but BFN tests.

As the title says really. All the pregnancy symptoms for the last few months but having monthly bleeds, assuming my periods and other than one very faint line, all the rest of the tests have been BFN. I have been feeling frequent movement for the past week and my stomach has really popped. I am awaiting a scan date to come through to check if there's anything else going on with my stomach, pelvis and ovaries. I wonder if they'll find a baby in there....I'm not trying to get pregnant but we did have one slip up back on November which would make me 16 weeks if I was. I know it's extremely unlikely I am but I'm extremely worried that there something else wrong.

Depends how early you started testing really. You can get the hook effect whereby the HCG in urine is too high. Mixing your urine with half a cup of water can sometimes show a positive in this situation. However, as you've a scan being booked I'm presuming you've had a negative blood test? In which case it's basically impossible that you were pregnant at the time of the test.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I haven't had a blood test done to detect pregnancy. I've been referred for a scan as I've been having bad pelvic pain. I told my doctor that I've had my periods and negative tests so I'm guessing he felt there was no need to check for pregnancy. I've been testing every month since November.

Not just pelvic pain but stomach and back too.

A friend of mine has a stomach like this and it was due to endometriosis, honestly, she looked very pregnant with the bloating.

Why didn’t the doctor do a blood test?

I didn't ask for one and I told him I've done multiple tests and been having my periods. I'm pretty sure he doesn't think I could be pregnant. That's what I'm worried about, there must be something else wrong with me. I hope my scan can give me some answers. I really feel pregnant though, I've had 5 babies so I know how it feels. It's very strange.

Obviously not diagnosing anyone on here I don’t know anything lol but my sister recently had to have surgery on a 12cm ovarian cyst they found. She had much the same the extreme bloating and pain in stomach and back, but she could be proper knocked off with pain for days so could be something else completely random if you’re not having the same pain levels. Hope you get some clarity soon with your scan ♥️

My best friend when I was 14 had this - as a teen it was really awful for her as people thought she was pregnant. It was a big ovarian cyst. (Benign and removed without issues in surgery).

@Jtj83 I wonder if it's something like that and having had previous pregnancies your mind is 'creating' the movements etc that you'd expect to feel from a bump that size? In any case I hope you get some answers soon. Do you have long to wait for the scan? X

Yes, my first thought was ovarian cyst, too. I suspect you’ll need a blood test along with your scan. Hope you get to the bottom of it soon!

I have just found out I'm having a scan on Monday morning and 'baby movements' have gotten stronger so let's hope they get to the bottom of what's going on. I will come back and update you guys. Thanks x

Hi OP. Good luck. Pregnancy is extremely unlikely but it's great you're having a scan that will hopefully shed some light on this.

Gosh that sounds scary, I hope it all goes well. Sounds like it could be a cyst, but also I have IBD and have a stomach that looks like this and often have ‘movements’ that are similar to 7m baby kicks.
