Hi all. We recently had a termination at 22 weeks due to severe multiple heart defects and a possibility of Downs Syndrome also.

We had genetic testing on the placenta which has confirmed that our little girl did have Downs Syndrome.

Has anyone experienced this before and if so what were the circumstances for you?

I understand those screening tests can not give a definitive answer. I’m just trying to get my head around whether it was just chance, or if there is a link to something else.

For further info, I am 29 and my husband is 35. We already have a healthy 21 month old boy, although did have a miscarriage prior to this most recent pregnancy as well.

Thanks in advance.

Hello, sorry for your loss. I just wanted to say you might get more replies in the antenatal testing forum.
