I am constantly being sick to the point where if i drink water i feel sick.

i am 8 weeks pregnants and doctors prescribed me with prochlorperazine anti sickness tablets but they only work for a short period (1-2 hours) and make me feel very drowsy so i cannot take it during the day due to work.

i am always nauseous and recently in the last 3 weeks been throwing up after every meal or sip of water. i am also getting so hungry so i eat and then have to throw it all up. I spoke to my midwife and they have jusy said its normal.

I am also worried that i am not giving my baby enough food or nutrients and i cannot even have water to stay hydrated. Not sure what to do, please help!

Hey 👋🏻 I wonder if you could have hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) the extreme end of pregnancy sickness. Pregnancy sickness support are brilliant:

Might be worth ringing them tomorrow. Defo contact GP again for different meds as there a few anti sickness meds as well. Sorry you’re so poorly 😣

Hi. Sorry you are feeling so poorly. I know from experience how awful it is feeling that sick when pregnant.
The most important thing is for you to stay hydrated if possible and make sure the doctors and midwives know exactly how awful you are feeling because there are a few medicines you can take to help ease it.

Hey, unusual for your midwife to say its normal. It's not! Sounds like what pp has said and hyperemesis gravidarum, might be best to take yourself off to a&e and get an IV drip and they will prescribe you some different anti sickness meds. (It can take trying a few/combining to really help). The food is less of an issue it's the water, dehydration is bad for you and baby.

I found cyclizine helped me only throw up a few times in the morning. But I did still have to take 2 months off work! It's really difficult and I am so sorry you are going through it

Don’t be fobbed off, it’s not normal if you can’t keep anything down. If you can’t keep down water for 24 hours - A&E because otherwise you’ll get dehydrated. Push your GP for different medication if what you’re on at the moment doesn’t work. A friend of mine found that Xonvea was a life saver, but different meds work for different people, keep going back there and try things until you find what helps you!
