Did you take citalopram whilst pregnant?

Hi all, so I have been taking 20mg of Citalopram for the last 3 years. It has helped me massively . I have just found out I'm pregnant and I am seeing conflicting advice online. I haven't yet been able to speak to a Dr or midwife about this. I'm really scared I will not cope well not being on them. I'm already anxious about the pregnancy, I know I would be 100x worse than this without citalopram. On the other hand I'm feeling guilty and concerned what this could mean for my baby and would I be being selfish if I stayed on them and then worry daily I'm hurting the baby.
Please tell me your experiences . TIA

I was on Citalopram for about 10 years.
had a brief stint off of them before getting pregnant, now I am on Sertraline.
I’ve actually found it had a slight better effect than Citalopram for me.
I would guess they may switch you onto this, as far as my knowledge from my own experience goes, this is the safest and most commonly used in pregnancy.
best of luck and congrats!

I am on the same it is safe to take in pregnancy it’s very very small risk and my midwife told me I may have to stay in after baby is born to be safe but it is very safe to take

I have been on citalopram for around 10 years and am now 32 weeks pregnant - midwife and consultant both very happy for me to continue taking it throughout as this was overall "healthier" for me and baby.

I took citalopram throughout my pregnancy as the benefits outweighed the risks. I was told that we would need to stay in for 48 hours after birth for monitoring as some babies suffer from withdrawal symptoms. DD didn't have any side effects and we were off home after the 2 days were up. Make sure to mention to your midwife at your booking in appointment, they should go through the pros and cons with you.
