16weeks pregnant, first baby, still no weight gain - is this normal?

Hi all. I'm 16w3 with my first baby, have the startings of a bump but haven't put on a lb of weight yet. I'm 5ft6 and weigh 8st4 so quite slim build generally. I didn't lose any weight during the first trimester but I did struggle to eat full meals due to nausea.

Is this lack of weight gain normal at this point? A few people have commented that I "should be showing by now" and its making me quite nervous. Any reassurance anyone can give me would be appreciated, my next prenatal appointment isn't for a few more weeks. Thank you.

I think everyone is different. 16 weeks is still early. I didn’t start showing at all until 20 weeks w my first and only those that knew I was pregnant could notice.

Congrats!

I didn't show with my first until well into 20 odd weeks.

No weight gain at this point is fine.

I didn't show until 30 weeks with my first 🤣 then popped out of nowhere! This pregnancy I was abit worried I wasn't gaining weight either but did have a bump. I think the lbs started going on at 20 weeks but still not as quickly as I thought. Baby is measuring perfectly fine tho and I'm 35 weeks now so don't stress x

Hey OP. I’m 21 weeks on Wednesday with my first baby. I do have a high BMI but I’ve lost weight since being pregnant not gained a lb. I’m barely showing still either. Apparently it’s all totally normal and we are all different so don’t worry. Enjoy your pregnancy x

@Whale2 with my first I started getting my bump around the gestation you are now but I never put on loads of weight. I was pretty much all bump and it was never a massive bump. Currently 17wks with my 2nd and my friend commented yesterday that I've not put on any weight yet other than a bit of tummy/bump beginning. It's very normal. As is having a huge bump! The diversity of women's body shapes during pregnancy is amazing! I know the longing to 'look more pregnant' but it will happen soon enough, don't worry! And I'm sure baby is perfectly healthy 🥰

It's nothing to worry about. You've just lost weight from your own body through your eating habits but gained it because of the baby to end up staying the same. I lost about a stone in my first trimester because I couldn't eat at all (I was very overweight in the first place). Baby was absolutely fine and average sized.

Don't worry about it and don't listen to anyone - that is nonsense. Baby is still tiny and as it's your first, everything is still nice and tight. I didn't show with my daughter until beyond 20/22 weeks.

I never showed

I’m also 16 weeks + 3 days and although I’ve got a decent bump I think for it being a first pregnancy I’ve barely put any weight on either (maybe at most 1kg) so it’s all bump at the minute but all seems going well so not too worried about it. I got a midwife appointment tomorrow so I guess she’ll tell me then how it’s going 😅

I'm 21 weeks and up until week 19 I hadn't gained a single pound either. Only the past week or so has my bump really popped out
