Surgical abortion and pregnancy after

So I’ve recently had a surgical abortion I was 12 weeks and 3 days I’ve been bleeding for a week and 2 days I very much regret my choice and decision, and for the people who have had surgical abortion and tried to get pregnant straight after I was wondering how long it had taken to conceive again?

I didn’t have an abortion but I had a mmc and surgery for that which is im guessing is a similar surgery? I conceived again three months later.

I had one period between my D&C and getting another positive pregnancy test. It's probably a good idea to have one normal cycle before you ttc so that you know everything's as it should be (no retained products etc) and you can easily date a pregnancy, but you can get going anytime. They say you're more fertile in the months after a loss.

I assume one cycle after physically. However, have you considered that perhaps your circumstances haven't changed in a week and 2 days and perhaps you should take some time to grieve and recover before trying to conceive again?

12 months from now things could look very different.

OP, this is an emotional time. As PP said, you need to consider why you chose an abortion in the first place. I'm sure this was not done lightly, so what has changed since then?

In such a short period of time, it is unlikely that your circumstances have morphed to accommodate a baby. It may be better to take at least a few months before considering TTC again when things will be clearer.

I had a surgical abortion some years ago, have never regretted it in the slightest and still needed counselling to get over it - I would urge you to take the time to come to terms with what you've been through before trying again.

I had a surgical abortion and had very little bleeding after. It might be an idea to contact your provider for a check up.

I would also agree with previous comments about giving it time before trying to conceive again. There was obviously a reason you felt it wasn't the right time for a child and your emotions will be all over the place right now. Give yourself some time to recover.

How soon after surgical abortion can you conceive again can you conceive right away after you stop bleeding after the abortion?

Why would you want to conceive again?

Presumably your reasons for the abortion have not disappeared.

It sounds like you might need some psychological help after what you've been through

I think you need to give your life and emotions chance to settle down

You had a termination at over 12 weeks so presumably not a quick decision you made since you may well have had at least 8 weeks to change your mind from finding out you were pregnant?

I am booked for a surgical abortion and feel incredibly nervous. I have been asked to take a Mifepristone tablet 24 hours before the procedure to soften my cervix. Did any of your have to do this and what was your experience? X

My friend had a surgical abortion around 12 weeks she ended up in hospital and needed a blood transfusion. She got pregnant 4 months afterwards and is currently due in the next week or so x

How did it go, I'm booked for Friday and just asking for stories of how you handled the procedure itself, where you awake during it. What was the pain like.

I was under general anaesthetic. The procedure went better than what I expected. When I woke up I was in very little pain and the nurse was on hand straight away and offered me painkillers.
