Hi guys, came here for some reassurance. I had my 12 week scan today and I left pretty upset. The baby is healthy however the woman who did my scan was very rude and sharp. I have a cyst on my left ovary and she told me 4 times that’s it’s to bust.. I obviously saw very upset and scared. She could be obviously see my getting worried. I asked her what will happen if it does and she replied you will have a lot of pain and should to hospital.. she gave me no signs to look at for and gave me no advice on what to do. It’s left me in a worried state as I thought cysts are common and it’s rare for them to burst. It’s currently 10cm and says it looks massive. Feeling pretty deflated and crap 😩

I had a 50 cm cyst with my first and currently have a 25cm with my 2nd pregnancy. No issues, I was closely monitored and have been consultant led on both pregnancies. My cyst is very rare though and grew rapidly with the pregnancy progressing. Most cysts though are gone by around 20 weeks.

I don’t know how the ultrasound tech can tell it’s about to burst - I’d query that if you can as they told me there’s no way to tell! Mine got to my ribs and still didn’t burst!

Bit rubbish. Get referred to obstetrician. I had one , was aspirated during caesarian.

I had exactly this, found at the 12 week scan.

It caused ovarian torsion which was very painful indeed. However, emergency surgery was just in time to save the ovary which was just beginning to turn grey.

And my then 17+3 (I think) baby was saved. She's now pretending to be a cat with her younger siblings 🤣

Don't delay going to hospital if something feels wrong. I put myself and my baby in danger by trying to be stoic. In retrospect, when there's enough pain to cause projectile vomiting and loss of bladder control, it's probably wise to get help!

Mine wasn't the experience you'd hope for and I didn't act promptly or wisely. It was painful and frightening. But nevertheless the outcome was good. I wish you an outcome as happy and chatty and delightful as mine 😉

A cyst that size should be monitored, ask your midwife to refer you to be reviewed by antenatal clinic for a plan of care.

Thank you guys, I have already seen a gynaecologist a year ago, I was already aware of the cyst but it has appeared to have got bigger due to pregnancy hormones

I have endo and had a cyst on my ovary throughout pregnancy. When i voiced similar worries they said the baby wouldn't squash it and it would make room for baby rather than other way round
