I’m really sorry for the gross pic but I really need advice. I have been losing bits of this for the past couple of days, today this is the most I’ve noticed at once. It’s a very pale brown colour and it’s basically like snot.. it can stretch really far. I’m worried this is my mucus plug? I have had swabs done recently and no infection or anything…

I’m almost 26 weeks

Don't panic but personally I would give the midwife a call so they can advise and do whatever checks they need.

Contact your maternity unit on the helpline number on your notes, looks to have a slight green tinge which may not be normal, best to get it checked out and more swabs taken if necessary

Please get a call in to your midwife. It could be nothing, but it sounds like it could be a mucus plug and if it is, it’s best checked out in case you need steroids and extra care.

Thanks for all the advice, @madeleine85 @Tianrose @apossumatthewindow

i had another big chunk this morning, again a slightly green tinge. I spent hours trying to get through to my midwife and triage with no joy, managed to get seen at the antenatal day unit. I went in, they took one look at my picture and my pad and said it’s “normal pregnancy discharge” and only to go back if it turns dark green or has blood in. They didn’t check my cervix at all and did no other checks like blood pressure, urine etc. They listed to babies heartbeat on a Doppler for a few seconds. I feel disappointed as I really feel that they should have atleast checked my cervix was still closed but they just brushed me off and rushed me out😢 however I’m just hoping that if it is my mucus plug it will grow back, I’ll keep my eye to see if I get any pains etc

It’s very common for bit of plug to come out and regenerate, doesn’t mean labour. It’s also common to have a lot of discharge which can be different from what you’re used to. Getting checked out was definitely the right thing to do if concerned, it doesn’t look like the plug to me, looks more like discharge but might be worth getting tested for infection as the colour looks green. Could just be the photo though

Op that looks like very normal discharge. I wouldn’t worry

You definitely did the right thing by going to have it checked and don’t hesitate to go back if it you have any further worries x
