Early scan, anyone had this problem?

Hi everyone, I’m currently 6 weeks +2 going off my last period. I went for an early scan today because I’ve had some spotting since Monday. They’ve said they can only see a sac measuring 5 weeks. I’ve got to go back in 10 days for another scan. Has this happened to anyone else? I did ovulate late (CD22) so don’t know if that could be the reason? Thank you

You will be eight days behind your ‘last period’ date, if you ovulated on CD22. So you are not even five weeks yet! That will absolutely be the reason!

The 6+2 is based on you ovulating on day 14 (the average). The day you ovulated would put you on 5+1 so your measurements are about right and you wouldn't be able to anything much at that stage.

Thank you so much! That makes me feel better. I did ask if it could be the reason but they didn’t really want to hear it they just kept saying we don’t have any answers for you until the next scan. These next 10 days are going to drag!! Thank you for replying x

@ttcbabyno1x Hey this happened to me last week, I thought I was 6+4 but when I went for my scan they said I was 4+1 not sure how they made that out 😞 I didn’t ovulate late because I didn’t do the deed after the day I thought I ovulated, but maybe implanted late or have irregular cycles I’m not sure. Did u have any bloods taken ? I have my next scan on Tuesday and I’m absolutely shitting myself! I still have some symptoms sore boobs and tiredness and my tummy is really bloated so not really sure what is going on. Xx

They did my bloods on Monday when I first went in about the spotting and they said my hcg levels were high enough to have a scan but they didn’t do them again today. It’s so worrying isn’t it 😥 yeah I have the same symptoms too. Fingers crossed for us both. I have read a lot of positive stories about it being fine for people but also know the chance of it not being 😞 xx

@ttcbabyno1x you would of thought they taken them today to see if they were going up or down. Yes hopefully good news for us! It’s awful the anxiety xx

Have you been doing tests, is the line progressing? Know it’s not fully accurate but I’m clinging on to looking at them until the scan! X

@ttcbabyno1x I was doing but I’ve stopped now when I realised how much I was spending! And if you have symptoms they probs will stay positive because of the time it takes the hormones to leave the body, the only true way to know is a scan so try not stress urself out and take it easy xx
