Hey guys,

I had a membrane 4ish hours ago . I am 2cm dilated and cervix is very soft and ripe . Had no immediate bleeding afterwards but bleeding a bit now , see image trigger

is that normal after sweep or could it be my bloody show?? I’m 39+1

Ring the number in your maternity book and explain.

That’s what happened to me after my sweep. I was 37 weeks and also 2cm. That’s how I started to lose my plug and I was very surprised at the amount of blood! Once the plug started going, tightenings began, lose stools and waters went.

Although there’s no way to be sure that’s what’s happening to you. Give them a call maybe to chat. Better to be safe. Good luck!!

This looks like what I assumed was my plug in my first labour. It didn’t come out until active labour but it scared the hell out of me because I was in the shower trying to manage the pain and all of a sudden there was blood all over the place.

baby was born a few hours later for me, but I understand it can take longer.

worth checking in with the hospital just in case it isn’t, but try not to worry too much :)

Any news OP?

Same happened to me after my sweeps, was told it was my plug coming away, but was also told it tends to grow back again.

Hope you’re okay xx

Hey guys,

so I had that bleeding for a little while with what looked like clots, and mucus etc. I started having tightenings and pain around 3am until 10am, got quite regular at times (every 10-15 mins or so) but have now stopped 😫😫 have seen if I am in the latent phase of labour that they can start and stop so hopefully they resume! Have period like pain also on and off . Loose bowel movements too . So maybe it is setting something off 🤞

I had three. This is going to sound a wee bit disgusting, but the midwife who did my first two sweeps had really stubby fingers. The third didn’t and bam, plug came out, all systems go.

I’ve no idea if finger length had anything to do it btw, but after speaking to some girlfriends, I was not the only one who checked out my midwifes hands 😂

How many have you had? I know they usually don’t want to give too many to restrict possibility of infections etc
