Induction - when are they offered?

Morning, my due date is on Monday and I’m getting worried about the risks of going beyond 42 weeks. When are inductions offered?

I only ask because it’s been a nightmare getting midwife appointments in my area. I’ve not had a week 28 or 39 appointment as they have been fully booked. I have an appointment Monday so can ask then… but I’m worried I won’t see anyone for a while after that appointment and the risk of something happening to my baby will increase.

thanks

My due date is Sunday & 40 week app has been booked for Monday. I asked midwife what my options are if I get to that appointment & she said I would be offered a sweep. I was induced with first at 37 & 6 so I asked her about induction and she said I would be able to request it if I wanted to at that point too. So don’t leave that app without a plan!

Well I'm 40 weeks tomorrow and an induction hasn't even been mentioned yet.

My local area offers them at 41+3 if you go overdue. Most places will aim to induce a few days before 42 weeks so baby is born by then

I am 40 and my trust have a policy to induce at or around 40 weeks I believe for younger mums it's 42 weeks but can be earlier if they deem necessary or it can be requested.

My trust does them at 41 weeks now, which is different to when I had my first over a decade ago. Used to be 42 weeks.

I'm due Friday. I've discussed and said I'd like to wait till 42 weeks before induction due to going into labour last time at 41+5 but nothing has been booked yet. My trust usually induces at 41 weeks

Thanks so much everyone. I’ll make sure I leave with a plan as I really don’t want to go past 42 weeks… I feel big enough as it is!!

My trust lets you go to 42 weeks before induction but will book from 41 by maternal request. I requested one for 41 weeks at my 40 week appointment, booked in at 41+1. Was too dilated so sent home to wait for a bed to break my waters, went into labour at 5:30am at 41+2, was in triage because my contractions were 3 in 10 when they called to say bed available. They'll also induce if otherwise indicated e.g. reduced movements, growth concerns etc
