My 9 week old is nearly 13 pounds. She recently went onto size 3 nappies, they were fine for a couple of days but then she's started leaking at the back? Normally we would go the next size up when she started to leak but these don't seem that small on her?? & we are putting the nappy on the same way as we usually do.... has this happened to anybody else? i have used Asda and Aldi, both doing the same!!

I would think that these nappies are too big. If the size 2s of these brands are really too small, it’s a case of trial and error with different brands.

We’ve had this several times with my 3 year old. He will grow out of a size with one brand, next size up is too big, or leaks, so we move to a different brand.

Hey!! They don't seem big at all, big snug around her belly to be honest. No gaps or anything ??

She is also tall for her age/height, would this matter???

A 9 week old in size 3 nappies doesn’t sound quite right to me. My 22 month old is only in size 4 and has been for a while!

I’d try again with a smaller size but if she’s definitely a size 3 then could it be the nappies aren’t getting changed often enough? Maybe it’s the brand that isn’t working for her?

PeopleAreWeird · 27/02/2024 03:12

Try 3+
They are the same size as a 3 but just holds more

Have you tried any other types of nappies?
How often are you changing?

Changed after everytime she has a bottle or if she does a poo/feels heavy/full. So definitely changing them enough! Must be the brand because everything else we are doing spot on 😫 But they were fine for a couple of days and now all of a sudden keeps leaking while asleep..

I've heard everyone on here rave about Tesco, i'm going to try their brand of nappies and see if any different... if not, surely she is not size 4 !? 😂

As PPs said, size 3 does sound big for a 9 week old. My 14 week old is in size 2 pampers which say they go up to 18lb.

Honestly it’s just trial and error. It’s common for the next size up in the same brand not to fit quite right, so try another brand but maybe go back down to size 2. All babies are different. We’ve used Asda, Tesco and Aldi. The brand that has consistently fit my son has been Pampers.

GrowBabyGrow · 27/02/2024 04:07

It could be compression leaks from vests? Maybe try vest extenders or the next size up to see if that helps. Agree either PP that size 4s likely will be far too big. My 20 month old is only just out of 4s

if you want to try a different brand, I really rate tesco fred and flo

DuploTrain · 27/02/2024 04:46

Ive just started putting my 5 week old in size 3 because 2 was too small.

I agree with pp - if the vest is too tight it pushes against the nappy and the nappy leaks into the seam of the vest. And then it seeps into the back if the baby is lying on their back. So maybe try bigger vests - and make sure the frilly bits of the nappy around the legs are poking outwards not tucked in.

It's 100% the brand then, because her vests are no way near too tight, if anything slightly baggy cus she's in between sizes haha! I will try Tesco today 😁👍🏼

9 week old babies aren’t usually in size 3 unless they’re huge, so I’d think the nappies are just too big so are leaking. Mine was in size 3 at a year old.

they're definitely not too big, they're abit snug around the waist, not baggy by the legs, nothing. she was fine on them for a couple of days but only recently started leaking. it's got to be the brand, the absorbency must not be very good..

At that age you do get a fair amount of poo leaks, just because the poo is so liquid. I would agree with PP who said that sometimes you get a few more leaks when baby is sort of between sizes. I found pampers to be great, and also Aldi premium version of their nappies.

Ladyj84 · 27/02/2024 05:48

We tried expensive and cheap nappies and the ones eventually not to leak were Tesco Fred and Flo ones which was an absolute blessing having 3 babies now toddlers. Nothing worse than leaking especially if it happened at the same time with our twins

Try the sainsburys ones if the Tesco leak as they're the only ones my DD doesn't leak in x

Gabby10 · 27/02/2024 07:08

I found aldi and Asda great in little sizes but not so great in the bigger ones x

Straightomyhead · 27/02/2024 07:12

I just to add that my 10 weeks old is in size 3 of tescos Fred and Flo. We have preferred tescos since birth. We rarely have leaks and few poo explosions.

They do come up quite high on him but fit round the belly which the size 2's didn't.

Nmayle1 · 06/05/2024 14:24

I just put my 8 week old in size 3 nappy’s, everyone saying that doesn’t sound right. Every baby is different. My baby girl is very long/tall so size two nappy’s don’t come up her back far enough and then she leaks up the back whereas size 3 come up the back resulting in no leaks. You know your baby best! Definitely try a different brand. We use Fred and filo (Tescos) 🤍🤍🤍
