I appreciate its hard if you’ve had a chemical or miscarriage before. I’m so sorry for your losses. Pregnancy tests are designed to give yes or no results and a line progression doesn’t indicate that’s you are “more” pregnant. Even with the same brand you can have different line strengths. Take a pause. Praying this one sticks 🌈 and congratulations.

User134389 · 25/02/2024 19:16

Thank you 💖 I understand they aren't designed for that but at the same time a fading line indicates a problem and a chemical can be mapped with line progression

The first 3 get darker each time, and then the fourth one is a different brand so I don’t think it’s a fair comparison. Even so the line on the fourth looks fine enough to me. It’s not designed to be used how you’re using it. So you can’t expect perfect clear results unfortunately.
You need to test again in 48 hours. I know just waiting is difficult though!

SwordToFlamethrower · 25/02/2024 20:34

That 4th test is a different brand so Im tempted to say that is why. I'd still be worried in your shoes (been there before!)

Maybe look at getting your blood hcg tested for peace of mind.

Lots of love OP, TTC is HARD.

Pupsandturtles · 25/02/2024 20:36

I’m sorry OP, this happens to me a lot too. How long have you been trying?

I agree though that the final one is a different brand, so shouldn’t be compared to the first three. What are the digis saying ?

User134389 · 25/02/2024 20:49

I guess it's a different brand but still the same sensitivity of 10MIU/mL

I've been trying a year and lost one in May 2023, November 2023 and now this.

Stuck on a loop... this is 18DPO

So if only comparing the last two, 18dpo looks a bit stronger than 17dpo to me. I used easy at home with current pregnancy and they didn't get dark until 20dpo ish. Comparing every other day it was more obvious. I get the compulsion though, I had 5 losses prior. Honestly there was not much difference in initial line progression between my chemicals and the successful pregnancy. I even thought a line got lighter somewhere around the same as you but it turned out fine.

User134389 · 26/02/2024 11:12

It seems most people have dye stealers at 18DPO

I think try a digi, Op. you can’t argue with words!

I sympathise, though- I’ve been in this position (slow progression) three times in the past six months. Such a rollercoaster

That looks really good! Honestly though, and this comes from a woman who had her tests confiscated multiple times and ended up severely sleep deprived due to obsessively scouring the Internet for answers..... Please stop testing every day/multiple times per day it's not going to bring you reassurance only anxiety. The best thing you can do is focus on keeping yourself calm (I know it's not easy) and finding ways to cope with the anxiety as you get towards milestones like early scan, 12 weeks ect. It's a long road ahead and you have to look after yourself.

User134389 · 26/02/2024 16:14

Thank you so much @Chasingbaby2 I have just never seen tests like this - my previous chemical faded and I was alright about miscarrying by now. My previous miscarriage I almost had a dye stealer by this point. I fear this could be something strange happening like an ectopic. So sad we don't have routine blood tests in the early stages

OP posts:
Chasingbaby2 · 26/02/2024 16:28

Yeah I get you. Given your history EPU should be able to scan around 6 weeks, and possibly a private one might pick up a sac to potentially rule out ectopic a bit earlier? Problem is, if the scan results are ambiguous it remains a wait and see situation which doesn't help you any. Really got everything crossed for you that this turns out well for you

Hello98765 · 26/02/2024 22:49

Please try not to worry and just take a break from the testing. Those tests are definitely positive and people’s hormones change at different paces. I still only had a faint positive at 15dpo and no dye stealer til I was a week or so late with my period!

the only thing that can tell you is time.

can you promise yourself you won’t test for a week and see what it looks like then if no period has arrived?

Highvibebee · 04/03/2024 14:28

@User134389 hi could I ask what the outcome was please? I fear I’m in a similar situation :( thank you x

User134298 · 04/03/2024 14:30

@Highvibebee I got a darker test at 19DPO, lighter again 20DPO with the start of bleeding. 21DPO was a dye stealer and more bleeding so I booked private scan and they were worried it could be ectopic. I went to A&E who confirmed not ectopic it was just the corpus luteum. My HCG was 24 and tests turned negative. At the weekend I passed what looked like pregnancy tissue.

I’m so sorry :( this is so hard. I hope you’ll be ok and hopefully it means it’s not ectopic. Thank you for updating x

I agree with the above posters on the different brand of tears. We're all of these taken the same time of day too? I actually found my second morning urine after a 3 hour hold to be more accurate and give darker lines than my FMU!

Hi OP, what was the outcome of this? Xx

@OneHeapedTeaspoonOfSugar started bleeding shortly after making this thread, it was a loss.

Think I’m on track for my second chemical, any advice on how to manage? Any progress on your conception journey? Xx

User134389 · 16/11/2024 10:50

@OneHeapedTeaspoonOfSugar so sorry to hear that. The only way to manage it really is to wait to bleed. Unfortunately after this I have had two subsequent chemicals so no luck so far.
