I've been searching high and low for reassurance as we all are when things are strange and new to us in the early days... Here's a little background for my first post, apologies its long...
I had a transvaginal booked in on the 13th Feb, This was booked as our GP has referred us for IVF. I'm a 1 tube warrior (due to cancer cells) and laproscopy pro with gyne over the last 5yrs.
We suffered a horrible MC at 7 weeks in November 2022, and believe we had 2 more before then also. 2024 marks 15yrs together and I've just spent the whole year loosing 11 stone to get my BMI good for assistance, So getting refered finally this month for help was the happiest moment of marriage!
In the transvagial I generally get chatting and know from hundreds of scans what I'm looking at, The sonographer wasn't very forthcoming, and what made it very strange she kept asking the first day of my last period, Which was strange to me, as this is only asked during pregnancy, She already had details of my cycle lengths, and I was bleeding on that day, Not my usual period style, But I had prepared them I was currently on my period for the scan. I got a tiny glimpse leaving and seeing her pictures on the screen, I most definately saw an endometrium strip, which I've seen in early pregnancy before...
Something clicked when I got home and I done a pregnancy test to find out I was indeed pregnant! ...Because of our experience in November 2022 with the MC in the early baby unit (Consisted of 2 weeks of HCG betas and Progestrone every 48hrs) I educated myself and begged them to give me progestrone, It took them 2 weeks to agree despite my low levels, So this time when I knew I was pregnant I self medicated right away from the left over supply, and I know that taking it during spotting or bleeding during early pregnancy can significantly avoid MC.
The bleed stopped by the next day and I assumed I miscarried due to the bleed (Thinking the worst) My HCG was rising on pink dyes everyday & my supply was low of cyclogest.. So I informed the doctor who wished to do the bloods process again to make sure we were okay and we were definately confused how far along so based on bloods we can do an early dating scan also..Clearblue was 1-2.. She also put me on extra cyclogest so I'm on 400mg morning, 400mg night.
My first bloods were
BETA HCG: 103.3
PROGEST: 11.2
I know from experience that really my progestrone should be 25+ So that was our first worry, But hopefully the double dose meds from GP would help and also from my last experience my HCG must be doubling, So we repeated 48hrs exactly after..
My second bloods were
BETA HCG: 122.6
PROGEST: 64.5
Significant rise in progestrone, but the dreaded slow rising HCG (again)..
So this time she said provided I didn't have any symptoms of eptopic at the moment, She will now repete this in a week time allowing my body to do what it needs to do.
I realise we're not all doctors here, but instead of me stressing over the weekend, I wondered if some of you could offer some comfort to me on your experiences?..
I would like to know if you use Cyclogest for progestrone boosting, did it give you spotting, brown stuff? And constipation??.. I haven't been able to pass any bowel movements in 5 days now (which is when started doubling cyclogest) So I'm assuming these symptoms are from that?..
Also, when it was super early for you, did you slow rise to begin with and also have good progestrone results... Or generally amazing results later on?... Ive read across the board its not always bad slow rising after 2 results...
I realise we cannot stop or change what will happen.. But as I've been through such trauma down there via general female problems and pregnancy, I just need a little comfort and support... Especially as now the bleeding has stopped, Well I've got brown old blood now and again when I wipe, but im going by instinct its nothing to worry about.. I'm now getting severe constipation though with mild cramping and I just need a bit of hope here.. 🙏🏻.. I've now done my dose today rectally to see if this changes things for me 😭🤣
