Low lying placenta ?

Been for 20 week scan today and found out we’re having a boy!! We’re so excited but they also noticed I have a low lying anterior placenta so they want to check it again at 32 weeks. Has anyone experienced similar to this and what was the outcome ? Can’t help but be a bit worried! I have had 2 occasions of small amounts of bleeding throughout the pregnancy

I was told my posterior placenta was slightly covering my cervix at my private scan at 17 weeks. Sonographer said they don't worry about it until much later in pregnancy as it can move upwards. I have my 20 WK scan soon so will see if it's mentioned then.
I think if it stays the same then potentially they could recommend a C-section.

I had this and it moved by itself by the time they re-checked. I’d had a previous c-section and got myself toed up in knots googling things that I probably shouldn’t have.

I had this, it was 2mm from my cervix. I had a private scan at 26 weeks and it had moved up to 7cm away for cervix.

I was told if its anterior there’s a high chance it’ll move up on its own as baby grows and pushes it up.

Yep I have anterior low placenta diagnosed at 20 week scan. They weren't concerned at all said it will most likely move by 32 weeks worst case scenario it doesn't and a C section will be required..for me this isn't an issue ..

I had placenta previa stage 4. They gave me regular scans after 32 weeks and I had a c section at 38 weeks. That will be 11 years ago next week as DD is celebrating her 11th birthday on Wednesday!

I had a planned c section due to placenta praevia. It was a good experience and my DC is now at secondary school and healthy. I do weight lifting.

I had a grade 4 placenta praevia - moved a bit by the time I had a scan at 36 weeks but was still too close for natural delivery so had a c section at 38 weeks

I had a low lying placenta that caused me quite a few issues!! All was fine though. I had the scan at 32 weeks and it still hadn't moved. I then had to have another scan at 36 weeks and it had moved then x

I was planning a home birth for child number 2 but ended up with a C section due to placenta praevia. She’s 24 now. I went on to have 2 more vaginal births including one at home.

Gruello · 23/02/2024 22:48

I had it with my first pregnancy, I was told no sex or overly vigorous exercise and that I probably would have a c-section. At my 32 week scan it had ‘moved’ due to growth so I had a vaginal delivery.

mrsed1987 · 23/02/2024 22:56

I had the same at 20 weeks. I was booked in for a rescan at 34 weeks but got diagnosed with GD in the mean time so was scanned at 28 weeks and it had moved.

Disneydatknee88 · 23/02/2024 23:17

I was told I had this fairly early on and had regular scans to monitor the situation as placenta was blocking her exit. I was petrified I'd end up having a c section. Fortunately at about 34 weeks they confirmed it had moved out of the way and I was good to go. I was able to have her in a birthing centre with hardly any medical assistance.
