How did you KNOW you were pregnant?

What were some of the early symptoms or unusual symptoms that made you think 'I better get a test.'

I remember my boobs being sore and hard one morning, which isn't unusual depending on my cycle, but it was the severe womb cramping after orgasm that alerted me that something was up.

My skin was hot right down low on abdomen. Where I'd get period pain.
Was really warm to the touch

Happened both times

An image popped into my head of cells dividing uncontrollably.

Woke up one morning ( about 4 weeks) and the thought of a cup of tea made me nauseous. Just thinking of milk and hot water mixed together 🤢. I drank warm squash which was better bizarrely.

No period…

First - I sat upright and was very very sick all over the floor. Clueless. It kept coming past 24 hours I took a test, blazing positive. The sickness carried on throughout.

Second - DC2 due soon, first clue should’ve been when I had a proper go at DH and shouted at him when I got home from a long train journey with DC1 and we got off a stop early for our last train. It was not a big deal at all, our next train stopped
at the station and we had less than a 10 minute wait. I know we both massively over-reacted but I was definitely worse. We laugh about it now!

I just knew! Just had a feeling.
And then I smelled different to myself, must have been hormonal changes I think.

Toothache

Just more tired than usual. I’d come home between AM and PM jobs and just stay laid on the sofa. Also cramping that I thought was just AF coming. When it didn’t I took a test. Other than that no symptoms at all

That’s so weird! My period is 2 days late and this week I’ve been waking up at 4am everyday!! Negative tests though so far!

I had no symptoms at all. Tested the day before my period was due (because I was going to a festival with every intention of drinking all day and thought I probably ought to check).

Symptoms kicked in a few days later, but I'd have known I was late by then.

Every single pregnancy headaches I'm the afternoon- low dull ache and sore nips. Got early bfp from 6dpo

no 4 was a big surprise! I enjoy working out I just felt like I couldn’t quite catch my breath. Then (sorry for the Stilton) I just knew!

Went to the gym and couldn't summon up the energy to do more than a 5 minute walk on the treadmill when I'd usually run my legs off x

The smell of coffee. I was in a cafe and the smell just hit me and the nausea was awful. I couldn’t drink coffee all the way through pregnancy, but it was the first thing I asked for after my c section. I drank it Luke warm through a straw.
Also a heightened sense of smell, I could smell the Indian takeaway when left work one evening, it is 1/4 mile away.

Yes that’s exactly what I have! I was trying to describe it to my husband earlier.

I got cravings for toast and jam for breakfast. The cheese and onion roll I had for breakfast made me feel sick and I got a metallic taste in mouth. Second time I craved I think it was Terrys Moments bars.

@Angrymum22 has your sense of smell returned to normal post pregnancy? I had superhuman smell when pregnant and 2 years on, though not as strong as it was, it’s definitely more sensitive than it used to be. I’m wondering if I’m lumbered with it for life!

It was only through my period not arriving, and doing a pregnancy test. I had all my usual PMS symptoms, so assumed it hadn’t happened that month! Then my period didn’t come, so I did a test.

Looking back, the night before I did the test I did have such a strong mood swing and ended up crying at DH for splashing tomato from the bolognese sauce on the kitchen wall. Definitely not a big deal but in that moment it caused me to get very angry and burst into tears… 😂I think that was a sign this wasn’t just PMS this time! That was the Thursday night and by the Sunday and Monday, I had quite a lot nausea. Which did then go away again until closer to 6 weeks.

Very sore boobs and I swear I can pinpoint the day of implantation. We were on the way to a party and I was sweating profusely to the point I had to make an emergency pit stop at Tesco to pick up deoderant and go straight to the loo to freshen up when we arrived at the party. I felt like I smelled different which was really weird, it wasn’t even summer so no explanation for being so hot!

I only got my BFP the day my period was due, earlier test came back negative

Suspected it when I had tingly boobs and a bit of unusual discharge. Knew for certain when my BBT shot up.

With my first I had no clue but on a night out I was complaining of being hot and my SIL suggested I take a test. Turned out I was 7 weeks along. With my 2nd we were actively trying, I was about 10dpo and I was travelling for work. I felt travel sick on the plane which has never happened before. I took a test that night and bfp.

With both, I had the strangest pulling/vibrating feeling in my uterus with implantation. Only lasted a couple of hours but enough to know something was happening.
