Pregnant and scared I might get food poisoning

I have a bit of a cold so can't taste very well. I just realised half-way through my meal that the rice had gone bad. It was plain white rice but had been in the fridge for a while. I'm scared I will get food poisoning and it will affect the baby. Has anyone experienced food poisoning from old rice?

how long had it been in the fridge I didn't realise rice had an "off" taste chances are you will be fine.

I had food poisoning whilst pregnant and was absolutely fine. I did phone the GP surgery as I was panicking, they just did my blood pressure etc as stated not much they can do.

How long had the rice been in the fridge? Hopefully you won’t get it.

I had food poisoning earlier in my pregnancy. I called the EPU and the midwife I spoke to advised that baby is very well protected as the placenta filters out anything bad. She said you would need to be ill to the point of hospitalisation before there is any risk to baby.

Thanks for your replies. It's really reassuring. My mum had cooked the rice. I'm not sure when she had cooked it but it was fine at the time. She left to go on holiday and gave the leftover rice. I kept it in my fridge for around 3 days. For all I know it could be almost a week old

I meant to add I think I've only had actual food poisoning twice in my life and never from reheated rice .it can keep in the fridge up to 5 days.

You'd know about it if you had food poisoning, it's pretty instant!

I wouldn't keep hold of cooked rice for more than 2-3 days as it can be a common cause of food poisoning. It depends if it was cooled quickly and then put in the fridge rather than standing about at room temperature.

Well you can't do anything about it now? Just drink plenty of water and see how you feel. Food poisoning won't affect the foetus. I'm not sure how you'd even know rice was gone off, unless visibly mouldy.

So far nothing bad has happened. I'm just going to have to wait till tomorrow. I really wouldn't have had rice that was old but as I am already sick I did not have any energy to cook lunch. The rice looked completely fine. I actually forgot to warm it up too (pregnancy brain) as soon as I got upstairs to eat my food I realised it was cold and again was too sick and hungry to go downstairs to warm it up. It tasted off. I thought it was the side dishes I was having with the rice that had spoilt but after individually tasting everything, it was the rice. I then tried to smell it and it smelt off too. Anyways thanks for your insights ladies
