You get it from the midwife at 20 week appointment.

dementedpixie · 19/02/2024 21:16

Midwife any time from 20 weeks

Laurenn86 · 19/02/2024 21:20

ah ok. So at the 20 week scan? I'm due to see my midwife again until 25 weeks other than that scan

I'm asking for mine this week at my 25 week midwife appointment.

FriendlyNeighbourhoodAccountant · 19/02/2024 21:21

I got mine at my 28 week appointment for my second child. Received at my 25 week appointment (usually only offered to first time mums) for my first child. It's signed by your midwife so won't be given to you at your scan unless you have a midwife appointment afterwards.

UpUpUpU · 19/02/2024 21:22

In my trust we give them at the 20 week scan appointment

SarahB88 · 19/02/2024 21:40

You’ll be issued it at the next midwife appointment following your 20 week scan. I got mine at 24 weeks but I’ve had ladies at work submit them right up to 28/29 weeks depending on when the midwife issued it.

NotAQueef · 21/02/2024 13:00

I was advised by my midwife to email them once I reach 20 weeks and they would send it to me, as its my 3rd pregnancy i don't have an appointment now 'til 28w!

Rubyrubyrubyruby123 · 21/02/2024 13:01

got mine after 20 week scan appt so about 26 weeks

That's quite late isn't it - my work expect a MATB1 by 25w at latest, maybe others are more relaxed.

They can't insist on receiving the MATB1 by 25 weeks, only the actual notice from you that you're pregnant by then.

sweetdreams23 · 21/02/2024 16:19

I got mine after 28 week appointment, they did say i could request it earlier if needed but my work said they only had to have the actual notice of pregnancy by 25 weeks not the actual form. They were fine with receiving it at 28 weeks

dementedpixie · 21/02/2024 16:36

They only need the MatB1 within 21 days of your SMP start date. All your employer needs by 25 weeks is your due date and when you want to start your leave.

Your work can’t insist on that

Work can absolutely insist on receiving notice of your pregnancy by 25 weeks pregnant. If you don't you aren't entitled to statutory maternity pay. They can't insist on the MATB1 form by 25 weeks.

dementedpixie · 21/02/2024 20:56

You advise them of your pregnancy and when you want leave to start by 25 weeks in order to get maternity leave. Its the MatB1 they need for Maternity pay. They need the MatB1 within 21 days of SMP starting.

If you claim housing benefit make sure you get it on the correct date.. Getting mine late caused all sorts of financial hits....
