36 Weeks Preg - Stomach Cramps Similar to period pains

Hi all,

Just something I wanted to ask other expectant mum's around 36 weeks.

For the last week, I have been experiencing some cramps, like mild period pains. I notice them in the night quite a lot, and often are accompanied by tighting (Possibly Braxton Hicks).

Do you think it is normal to be having the pain as well though? I have m/w appt on Weds, so I will check with my m/w then, but just wondered if it's something any one else has experienced.

They are not severe agonising pains, but are definately there, like a aching,menstrual feeling.

OMG I am 34 weeks today and I was up for hours last night with the same thinking am I going into labour. All day yesterday had really tight bump as well. The pains have eased off today but I have had quite loose bowels (delightful sorry). I shall be watching your post with great interest.

Could be early labour and as you're only 36 weeks I would call the midwife or maternity unit to find out. I had dd at 36 weeks and I loads of BH, my waters just broke though and even though she was nearly term she needed to stay in scbu for a week.

She had breathing problems and couldn't feed so was tube fed. I always thought 36 weeks would be just fine but it's not always true.

I'd definitely give them a call to be on the
safe side.

Could be a urine infection but more likely to be BH.

Jane lose bowels can be the body getting ready for labour by clearing everything out, I'd get checked out if I were you.

I think I remember reading that most women go into labour during the night too because of hormones are higher then, so might be why it's worse at night.

I had the same last week at 37 weeks - the midwife said it was the baby's head engaging

Spoke to m/w she said sounds normal, like Braxton Hicks, she said not to worry at all.
