Lost all hope of natural birth

41+1 today and starting to accept my fate of an induction on Monday.

Feeling so down about it as I have had the most wonderful pregnancy; no sickness or pain and baby growing lovely throughout. So I'm just gutted that now when I'm at the very end, he won't just come naturally, I feel like a complete failure :-(

I've had two failed sweeps, last one being today when she said my cervix was completely closed. Not had any signs whatsoever despite baby being head down and engaged for weeks.

I really don't get how people just stand up and go into spontaneous labour! All I want is to be woken up in the night with contractions! It just seems impossible to me.

I don't know whether to hold out hope he'll come over the weekend or channel my mental capacity into preparing for the induction on Monday (which I really don't want but time is ticking)

I have tried sex, nipple stimulation, ball bouncing and long walks but nothings worked. Not tried other things as I believe they're just old wives tales...

All that matters is a baby.
Even if has health issues - say jaundice as newborn, still is your baby.

Hi All

Just another update. Had him on Wednesday and I definitely made the right choice with an ELCS as even then they needed forceps to get him out and he was still high up! I don't think he'd have come out otherwise. But the whole experience was so calm and relaxed.

But we are still stuck in hospital as poor lad has jaundice and has been under phototherapy for the majority of our time.

That's great. I had elective CS for one of mine and it was so smooth.

Hopefully you will be home soon.

I have always felt anxiety when it comes to going into labor and that I either will have to have c-section or be induced. I´m in my last trimester and I have done so many things like acupuncture and massages and herbs, but I think what´s most important is your mental and emotional well-being, trusting your body and your baby, and knowing that whichever way your baby will come to this world is the right way, as long as the two of you are healthy. What helped me the most to control my negative thoughts and anxiety is meditation and some hypnobirthing technics like visualisation and deep breathing. And I could recommend that to all moms-to-be. I recently also got myself those printable birth affirmations. I start each day with drawing one card and just remembering the sentence throughout the day whenever I get negative thoughts. You can also just write your own affirmations and read them everyday. And remember that we women are so powerful, we grow a new life inside of us. The birth is the final step of an already incredible accomplishment. Never consider yourself a failure, just because your birth might not be what you have hoped for. Trust the journey <3
