Hi folks,

Happy Friday!

I want to start by acknowledging my POAS addiction is out of control and cannot be helped due to my past experiences!

I am currently 6 weeks Pregnant, however I still do not have strong line progression for where I should be (compared to my miscarriages and successful pregnancy) I have 2 lines but no dye stealer and CB digital is still showing 2-3weeks. Did anyone in a similar position go on to have a successful pregnancy?

I have a scan booked in for a weeks time due to 5 previous miscarriages... but the anxiety is stressing me out... the lines are taking almost 3 days to darken and I was not offered blood tests to confirm the rate and time of HCG doubling. Oh and I should add for the first time in any of my pregnancies, I spotted last week Friday... I think I know the outcome but clutching for hope 💜

Realistically tests arent designed for pregnancy progression and also with the digtal ones it measures from point of conception not LMP so 2-3 weeks could be 5 weeks really

fingers crossed it works out

Ladypap · 16/02/2024 14:06

@excitedmama2be thank you for replying. I agree tests aren't designed to be used for line progression and probably would have resigned myself to accepting this had my consultant not told me that it doesn't sound promising that my test line was not dark as the control line on 18dpo and that was worrying! After that lovely consultation I feel even worse about this line progression or lack of!

Never got a dye stealer. Line didn't get properly dark until 20dpo, in fact I swear they got lighter even around 14dpo and I was convinced it was all over. Never got 3+ on a digital. 36 weeks now and all is well. Im not going to say don't worry as I know the stress, also had 5mc before this one and honestly it's impossible! But I wanted you to hear a positive story and know that pregnancy tests don't mean all that much in terms of assessing viability. Im sorry the consultant put so much weight in that. Also with the spotting, I would be pushing for progesterone.

Ladypap · 16/02/2024 20:43

Thank you @Chasingbaby2. I really appreciate your message, it gives me hope and it’s lovely to hear your rainbow baby is progressing nicely!

Thank you for the progesterone suggestion, I’m on 400mg twice a day so no idea what the spotting was for? It only happened twice in the space of an hour… so odd as that has never happened before and I was so certain I was miscarrying that I ran out to Sainsbury’s to buy pads and chocolate!

Ah so I think the pessaries themselves can irritate the cervix a bit, I was told spotting can happen with them so hopefully it's nothing especially as it happened only briefly. Really hope things turn out well for you.

My Lines were slow to progress and I never had dye stealers. Getting a 'dye stealer' is absolutely no indication weather your pregnancy will be viable or not

annlee3817 · 17/02/2024 07:04

If it helps I didn't get a dye stealer or my 3+ on the digital until 24 DPO

Ladypap · 17/02/2024 12:17

@Chasingbaby2 thank you! Yes I forgot progesterone can do that!

@LiIacMoon I know you’re right, I guess I’m also concerned by the fact that my test lines are still getting darker at 29dpo (6 weeks) which could indicate ectopic. I guess I will find out on Friday either way! Thank you for your message which gives me some hope!

@annlee3817 thank you! With my son I got a dye stealer at 18dpo… it’s so disheartening as I am still waiting for my test lines to really darken and I’m nearly 30dpo!

This was my test yesterday (28dpo), the top frer one I took with diluted urine and the bottom one was the pm one undiluted. The wondfo is yet to darken (also undiluted urine).

The cheapy ones never darkened any more than that for me. And the bottom first response looks literally as strong as the line could possibly get.

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 17/02/2024 12:42

I got the dye stealers, but I still ended up miscarrying at 9 weeks

Ladypap · 17/02/2024 15:31

@StedeBonnet thank you for your message. In all my other pregnancies including the miscarriages the lines always got darker and much much sooner but you are right it’s dark. I guess each pregnancy is different for increase rate of HCG.

@IBegYourBiggestPardon yeah I can relate to that too and also a valid point. This waiting game is driving me crazy

I also had a dye stealer at 4+ 5 and miscarried at 5+5 , so yeah , the lines mean absolutely nothing . I even got 3+ on digital clear blue at 5 weeks +1 day , so it’s showed that they mean nothing at all in showing how healthy the pregnancy is :(

Ladypap · 17/02/2024 23:35

@Ilovebees so sorry for your loss, I’ve been there too. I agree the line progression might not mean anything, I just want to mentally prepare for it as it’s kind of not allowing me to enjoy the fact my lines say I’m pregnant! Also my consultant mentioned my lines should be darker which suggests there is some sort of science behind the lines darkening and this has made me feel even worse. Anyway I will update on here once I have had my scan. Thank you for replying

Your lines look absolutely fine to me!

And I'm speaking as a woman who has had many miscarriages.

Ladypap · 18/02/2024 09:16

@TheShellBeach i really hope they are, the scan on Friday will confirm either way I guess

I had dye stealers and very strong tests. I still had a miscarriage at 10 weeks. You can't really tell. Good luck!

Ladypap · 23/02/2024 13:56

Hi Ladies, so I thought I would update you all… unfortunately it’s not good news but I guess I knew that deep down hence my many posts on this!

I went for a scan today and should have been measuring 6+4 unfortunately the sonographer said it doesn’t look good as she could see a cystic mass but no yolk sac and dates me 5 weeks if it were a pregnancy… I need to do bloods now but she said in her opinion she doesn’t think this is viable. This Makes the count miscarriage number 6 :(

TheShellBeach · 23/02/2024 14:03

Oh no. That's so awful for you. I'm really, really sorry, @Ladypap

Chasingbaby2 · 23/02/2024 14:17

I'm so sorry to hear this. It's such a rough ride. I truly mean this to be helpful and hope it doesn't come across as being too soon but wanted to pass on a recommendation for the implantation clinic in Warwick who are doing some amazing research around multiple miscarriages. Wishing you strength xx

Ladypap · 24/02/2024 12:02

Thank you @TheShellBeach @Chasingbaby2. I went back to get the bloods done as they requested (I didn’t stick around after the scan which lasted 2-3 mins) and the nurse did my consultation at the same time, she told me there was a gestational sac but the sonographer didn’t want to call it a gestational sac so instead deemed it a pregnancy of unknown location (PUL) but likely failing intra-uterine and the “area” measured 3.1mm… I’m just waiting for the bloods to come back, apparently if the hcg is less than 1000 then I need bloods taken again if it’s over 1000 then I need to be rescanned. The nurse said it’s likely it won’t work out given my dates of conception and where I should be now but it could just be my cycle was longer (I have irregular cycles). Good news is they don’t think it’s ectopic at this stage. I just feel a bit annoyed at the lack of effort by the Songograoher and the way she shut it down so quickly, I’m sure her prognosis is right but it doesn’t hurt to be a bit more sensitive, the nurse was so much better to deal with and incidently she helped me on 2 of my other miscarriages a couple of years ago.

@Chasingbaby2 thank you for the recommendation, I’ve been told by my consultant that I have DOR (last checked AMH level was a year ago and it was 0.45!) so I guess I was lucky to get this far… tbh after this heartache I don’t think I have it in me to continue anymore… and I’m 41 so not a spring chicken!
