Accidently took cold relief

so nearly 16 weeks pregnant and suffering an awful bout of tonsilitis. Yesterday at 3pm i accidently took some cold relief thinking it was paracetamol. I i rung 111 and was told a consultant would call me back. I did get a call from a random number in Tyneside at 2AM and when i didn't pick it up (cos it was a random number at 2am) they texted and said they'd closed the case.

Anyone had any experience with it. Pregnancy is not under the "Do not take" label but under the "consult your doctor first" section so one dose isn't gonna harm baby right?

Nah you'll be fine, it's usually just that they haven't been tested on pregnant women so they can't confirm they're safe. My friend took lemsip, anadin and strepsils all through her pregnancy when sick as she didn't think to check they were allowed and her baby is fine.

I've taken anadin on rare occasions due to severe migraines and baby is developing fine almost 33 weeks.

If anything, it's usually if you've taken them alot or repeatedly. Abit like alcohol, one glass isnt recommended but tends not to cause harm, if you keep drinking your baby will likely end up with fetal alcohol syndrome.

I'm sure baby is fine, just be careful not to do it again 😊

I would definitely get medical advice to be sure. Midwife/GP/111 but in the meantime this website is helpful

I wouldn’t take them again but I do think as a one off it’s probably not catastrophic, and if it was yesterday then the drugs are now long out your system and there is nothing that can be done anyway. Im sure baby is fine. Maybe see if you can call your midwife on the non emergency line for reassurance?

I took a bottle of Beechams all-in-one alongside Lemsip when I was around 11 weeks. I had such a terrible cold I didn’t even think about being pregnant. My child is ten now and top of his year group academically. Try and calm down as your stress over it definitely won’t be helping.
