High HCG

Has anyone had such high beta HCG at 4+5? I’ve gone from worrying about miscarriage to worrying about molar pregnancy or twins or Down syndrome

My anxiety is so severe and coming off my antidepressants is really not helping

High HCG

doesn't mean anything either way. good luck with the pregnancy

Those were my HCG results with my twins at 12post embryo transfer which is equivalent to 4-5w pregnant.
if you’re 100% sure about your dates I would say it’s a twin pregnancy🫶🏻 congratulations!!

Hi OP - your hCG levels are completely normal and you are more likely to be having a single baby - (just because fewer women have twins, and your levels are not even in the higher range of normal for your gestation).

Here's a chart which gives the levels. You can see that there is a very wide variation of normal.

BTW there are antidepressants which you can take while pregnant - can you discuss this with your doctor if you're feeling anxious?

I'm 100% sure. I was doing OPKs and BBT

I really hope it's not twins, my husband is very against the idea and I know he would want to do selective reduction (which I would not want), we don't have the room, money to pay for nursery or a big enough car for 2 more

Would you not say they're high? It says 7340 as the top number for 5 weeks and if my numbers double over the next 48 hours then at 5 weeks I'll be at over 7800!

I think I'm going to have to, I know sertraline is an option but I'm still concerned as we TTC for 3 years for this pregnancy and I'm terrified of something going wrong

@polkadotpixie honestly at this point the only way to know it’s an early scan. Not sure if you would be able to find a private one that early but my fertility clinic did a scan at this point just to clarify twin pregnancy etc. Don’t get me wrong they were not able to see much at this point but 2 sacks were visible so we were 100% it was twin pregnancy. But if twins share the same sack not sure if it would be visible.
Hold on to 6w and I hope everything turns out as you wish🫶🏻
it was a shock for us as well at the beginning and even now at 18w I’m occasionally scared of what the future holds, but I see it as a gods wish!
good luck and take care of yourself🫶🏻

Yes, but look at how the numbers jump up as you get to the six week mark.

Your numbers seem normal to me (I'm a retired midwife) and I would be very happy with them and not panicking.

Sertraline has been proved as safe during pregnancy - most of the SSRIs have.

It is better to treat anxiety and depression in the mother - they have a negative effect on the baby.

Thank you. I've booked a scan for next Saturday when I'm 6+0 so hopefully I'll be able to see how many sacs there are at least and I'll go from there. I did get my BFP at 9dpo so I'm hoping it's just an early implanter

Hi OP, whilst I didn’t have my hcg tested that early, at 5+2 for me my hcg was 24,000. I had tracked ovulation so roughly knew my dates.

I had my first faint positive at 8dpo so was also an early implanter. At my dating scan they did push me forward 5 days, but very much a single pregnancy and a now health 11 month old baby! Hopefully the scan will give you some reassurance

Thank you, that is reassuring to hear. My second bloods at 5+0 came back at 8638 so more than doubled and I'm feeling dreadful but I think I had high HGC with DS too so hopefully I just make a lot of it for one healthy baby 🤞

My HCG at 11 days after a 5 day embryo transfer was 1800 and at day 14 (which would be just under 5 weeks) it was 5800. I'm now 22 weeks pregnant with a single baby

AnnieApple123 · 18/02/2024 20:14

I had this worry in my first pregnancy. HCG was 960 at 4+2. I also wasn’t keen on multiples and was concerned about a molar pregnancy. I ended up having just one healthy baby who is now nearly 4. And the HCG did slow down after that. It’s worth tracking over time as its progress is not necessarily linear.

Now I’m pregnant again and have had the opposite problem with HCG which started out increasing relatively slowly but then picked up.

AnnieApple123 · 18/02/2024 20:15

Sorry, I missed that you’ve updated with a second value. Do you know about the site www.wantbaby.info?

polkadotpixie · 13/04/2024 10:34

Just as an update for any future anxious Googlers...it's not a molar pregnancy and there is only 1 baby measuring bang on date-wise

Awaiting NIPT results but NT measurement was normal. I have suffered with HG though, not sure if it's because of the high HCG levels
