Flying during pregnancy

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well. I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant and haven't been informed of any potential 'high risks' during the pregnancy so far. I'm due to be going abroad but am getting a little anxious about flying. The midwives seem to suggest it's up to personal choice, I just wondered if anyone had any experience in flying at around this time? Thanks!

Depends how far you’re flying and what you feel comfortable with?
I flew to Greece when I was 20 weeks and it was fine. The flight was 4 hours and I just made sure I moved my legs during the flight, wore compression socks, stood up at least every hour and drank a lot of water.
If you’re not high risk then it should be ok. One of my friends flew at 30 weeks and everything was fine.

How far along will you be when you travel/return?

I flew long haul at 32 weeks. Just had to pee often but was otherwise fine.

I was flying regularly for work up until I was 24 weeks so you should be fine. As others have said you just need the toilet more often so I made sure I booked an aisle seat. I’d recommend compression socks too as my ankles got quite swollen.

Thanks for everyone's advice, it's a 4 hour flight, so will make sure I'm drinking plenty of water and moving around more! I just wasn't sure if flying had any risks to the baby!

Hi @Richie23 i know this is an old post but also have an upcoming holiday to Greece when I’ll be 20 weeks. Were you ever hassled to provide documentation of how far along are you? I’m not sure how my bump will look like in 4 weeks but airline said it will be up to the staff discretion to ask for evidence of how far along I am although their policy is no paperwork needed if less than 28 weeks. They said they may ask for paperwork anyway if look heavily pregnant.

Nope, no one said anything, but I went in October so I wore leggings and a baggy tshirt and oversized jumper to the airport and didn’t have a very noticeable bump, so I didn’t really look pregnant anyway.
