Please excuse my naivety but this is my first pregnancy and I haven?t got a clue.

I?m twenty weeks pg and just been looking through my notes. Had my scan yesterday and my notes say I have a posterior placenta. This wasn?t explained to me during the scan and I have no idea what if anything this could result in.

Any advice gratefully received.

think posterior placenta is normal and most favourable position for it??

someone will know...

posterior, brighteyes, means the placenta is on the back of your womb. its just to inform any mw or dr who may examine you in the future. it s nothing to worry about

good luck with the pg, and remember, there is nothing you cant ask your mw, however daft or small it may seem.

Thanks for the advice.

To be honest nailpolish my mw is so dizzy I would probably get the wrong answer anyway!!!!

Posterior placenta sounds great. A friend had her placenta on the front and never felt any kicks, which must have felt quite scary at times.

Posterior placenta (ie towards your spine, not your tummy) IS normal and good. You want your placenta high and posterior, not low and at the front. If you have to have a c-section it is quite tricky if the placenta is at the front and low. Don't worry - you are absolutely normal and healthy!

Yep, its good. I heard that babies like to cuddle the placenta, so if your placenta is on the back wall then the baby is more likely to face the back, which is the position you you want him in for labour!
