I am 20 weeks + 6 days pregnant
on Saturday i spent time with my neice when i was 20+4 days pregnant. She wasn’t showing symptoms no spots etc, i picked her up a few times. She started showing symptoms (maybe) today the doctors said it could be the start of it.

i definitely had chicken pox at 2 years old I am now 28, my mom confirmed that I definitely did have it as she remembers I was covered in them. My partner thinks he had them too.

i have let my midwife know, but is my unborn baby at any risk??

I think it is very unlikely that you will have any effects. I helped look after my friends' 3 little ones last year when they all had chicken pox and I didn't get the slightest symptom. I had chicken pox about 55 years ago!

Unless you get chicken pox again, there is not risk to your baby. Your midwife can do blood tests to see if you have immunity and if so, if that immunity is new or old.

For many parents who have a second or more child, it’s not uncommon for the eldest child to have pox during their subsequent pregnancies.

Hi OP, 90% of adults in the UK and Ireland are immune to chickenpox and if you've had them previously you are almost certainly in that number. I was exposed twice during my second pregnancy, including caring for my own toddler with chickenpox and I never caught it. I had it when I was 18 months old.
