How big was your baby bump at 17 weeks? First pregnancy

Wondering how big everyone else's bump is/was everyone at my antenatal group ( grouped together, 16 weeks at bump all) were all showing bumps.
I'm 17 weeks and don't notice any bump growing. For context I'm a size 14 .
Obviously I'm an over thinker and keep worrying baby is maybe not growing since everyone else seems to have bumps. Baby was 5 days behind at 12 week scan

I didn’t have anything whatsoever first time around until 23 weeks with a super small dent. Proper bump didn’t appear until around 28 weeks. I had DS at 32 weeks and hadn’t told most people I was pregnant. It can take forever in a first pregnancy to show.

I’m 15 weeks now and have a subtle bump but mostly looks like bloating.

AimeeLou84 · 10/02/2024 17:26

Hey hun. Im a size 14/16 before pregnancy. Im 17+3 today and barely have a bump. It’s also my first pregnancy. Don’t worry; we are all different x

Mine was the same, showed much earlier with my second pregnancy. Was a size 10 prior to first pregnancy and a size 8 prior to the second one.

I had very little showing at 30 weeks plus. I am a size 8.

In fact a teacher, looking round to apply to cover my maternity leave, commented that she really looked forward to working with me!
I had to correct her with ‘I’m the one having a baby’..😆

Nocoffeenotalkie · 10/02/2024 17:38

I had nothing of note at 17 wks with my first. I don't think I showed until 22/24 weeks. Currently, pregnant with my 2nd now and very obvious bump at 17 weeks.

ceruleansky · 10/02/2024 17:45

I spoke to my doctor about this just today. I'm almost 16w and don't see a bump. She said that with first pregnancies the stomach muscles are tighter and firm so it takes longer to show, whereas with 2nd and more, it expands quicker.

Alwaystired2023 · 10/02/2024 17:47

Non existent at 17 weeks still had my jeans on! 25 plus weeks I had a bit of a bump? I did go weekly to an exercise class from 12 weeks and the difference in bumps was very pronounced x

CB2805 · 10/02/2024 18:47

I’m 17w with twins first time pregnant as well. My bump is still as I had a good take away😂 just bloated no sign of nice round bump! was having the same worries but I guess everyone shows different?

NightSkyWanderer · 10/02/2024 19:52

That's nice to hear. I'd started to feel like the odd one out as everyone else has / had bumps with their first and even several of my friends aswell as few of ladies in class had mentioned movements. Being a worrier I'd become convinced since mine isn't growing that maybe the worst had happened

With my first I was a size 6-8 and didn't show until about week 21. I felt movements weeks before showing.

Nejnej · 10/02/2024 20:27

No bump whatsoever until 19 weeks! Although massively bloated in the first trimester which made me look super pregnant.

I've got a pic on holiday at 17 weeks in a bikini, not even a hint of a bump!

SerenityNowInsanityLater · 10/02/2024 20:35

No bump. Slightly thicker waist, if that. I didn’t show and then around 33 weeks, everything popped out and I was a house. 😆
I didn’t go from flat stomach to beach ball. But I just had a thicker waist over time, a ‘bloat’ type of bump, thicker thighs (my thighs took all of my pregnancy weight every time 🙄). The bump just didn’t show itself until I was well into the pregnancy. I’m tall. I think that’s why. By 17 weeks I definitely had a bump in my second pregnancy though.
I was told I’d have small baby weighing about 5lbs at term. 8 1/2 pounds later… 😆
Good luck to you, OP.

ChelseeDagger · 10/02/2024 20:36

I didn't reveal my fifth pregnancy until 21 weeks and nobody had guessed, I'm a size 10-12 but 5'9 so maybe the babies have a bit more room to stretch out...

Totally normal not to have a bump at 17 weeks. The uterus doesn't reach the level of you navel until 20 weeks.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 10/02/2024 20:38

Non-existent, I could probably have gotten to about 26 weeks without telling anyone and just had people think I was getting a bit fatter.

Veggie1965 · 10/02/2024 20:42

We are all different and for context I had a huge bump at 16 weeks whereas my daughter just had a thick waist at 36 weeks! She was back in her jeans by 1 week whereas it took me a few years 😂

ASGIRC · 10/02/2024 21:35

I had zero bump at 17 weeks.
I hid it at work, without great trouble, until 22 weeks. I was still wearing all my clothes, just a bit thicker at that point.

I only started looking pregnant and having a proper bump at 25/26 weeks.

WandaWonder · 10/02/2024 21:48

I didn't show

Rosiet97 · 17/04/2024 10:00

27 and I’m 14+4 weeks with my 1st and I feel huge! Is this normal? My sister keeps telling me I shouldn’t be “this big” at 14 weeks 🙈

I did loose 3stone before I got pregnant and was a size 16 not sure if that would make it look bigger? 🙈

I wouldn’t worry about bump size, some women ‘pop’ early and stay like that throughout. As long as baby is measuring all good. I’m 27+1 and my bump only appeared 2 weeks ago. We are all so different

Rosiet97 · 18/04/2024 13:30

Ok thank you! I just get self conscious when people say about it being big🙈

AimeeLou84 · 18/04/2024 13:32

My mum was a size 8 when she had my sister and she looked huge early on. But it never changed much throughout. The midwife will at some point measure your bump so they’ll tell you if they are worried. As long as baby measuring ok I honestly wouldn’t worry. Pregnancy is scary enough without people commenting it really annoys me. I’ve had people ask me where my bump is, infuriates me lol

Peonies12 · 18/04/2024 13:44

I was so bloated in first trimester, I felt massive. Now 16 weeks, my trousers are very uncomfortable but not really a bump. I'm surprised you're doing antenatal classes so early on? And I'd really not approve of comparing bump size, as someone who is plus size, it would really upset me, everyone is totally different and it has no bearing on your pregnancy or baby growth.

Rosiet97 · 18/04/2024 14:14

Yes it is frustrating when they say, tho I feel I am so much more confident in my body now and I am embracing the belly instead of hiding it! And yes it is a worrying time, I find I’m constantly anxious if everything is ok after having cancer 3 years ago and didn’t think I’d be able to have children! It’s a scary but exciting time 🥰
