Vanishing twin bleeding

Hi everyone, long story but looking for similar experiences. 2 weeks ago I started with a little light brown discharge on wiping. Went into EPU measured 6 weeks and saw the heartbeat.
This stoped for a few days and then about 3 days later I had just one day of a lot of dark brown discharge which went onto a pad. Back to EPU cervix is closed and few days later (week after first scan) they rescanned and found one healthy baby who was now measuring ahead and a vanishing twin.
They said the blood could be caused by the vanishing twin. Since yesterday (24 hours after the scan) the brown discharge has started again. There is a lot on wiping but only a tiny bit onto a pad.
Has anyone experienced this and baby 1 been ok. I'm so stressed and scared I can't think of anything else.

Hi @rupertbear91 sorry to hear you’ve been going through this. Did you get to the bottom of it? i think I may be going through the same things they saw 2 sacs after a bleed I had. I’ve since had lots more spotting and full red bleeds and period like pains today. I’m wondering if one maybe isn’t making it (one was smaller). I’m only 6 weeks so no heartbeat could be detected at the scan I had 4 days ago. Hcg still were sufficient but I’m bleeding again today .i am praying one sticks as this is my last shot.

@Lindyloolou I'm so sorry you are going through this too.

I ended up bleeding from week 6 until one (hopefully final) heavy bleed at just before 9 weeks - I had a scan after this bleed and they confirmed that the second twin and sac were no longer there but the other baby is growing well with a strong heart beat.
I would definitely push for another scan to confirm if either baby has a heart beat - I first saw mine in the healthy baby just after 6 weeks so hopefully you will too

Thanks so much @rupertbear91 This is reassuring. I’m not really having clots - it’s bright red, then brown, then tapers off again. Had full period cramps for an hour and that’s gone now. Not sure if I’m overthinking but nausea has gone but I know in my successful pg it came and went around this time until I hit 7 was and sickness picked up then. Driving myself nuts here! I would take one sticky bean all day long 🙏🏼 My scan is on Thursday - I’ll be 6wk4d so I’ll know then I guess.

I am sorry to hear of your loss and fingers crossed for a happy healthy and successful ongoing PG xx

Update - had a scan today after more bleeding which was fresh no clots and has since tapered off. 2 heartbeats measuring ok. Obviously it’s still VERY EARLY at 6wk1d and risky so a long way to go but a bit of reassurance until our next scan next week.

That's good fingers crossed they stay strong for you

Wanted to update the thread for future people searching (always annoying when you don’t see the outcome). Had 8 weeks scan today, one heartbeat stopped 6wks 3 days. Other embryo going strong and measuring perfectly so a case of vanishing twin syndrome. Might sound crass but I’m ok with it - means we have a much less riskier pregnancy and more chance of a live birth 🙏🏼

Hi, I have been searching for similar experiences, I know it’s been a while since someone posted but would love to hear the outcome as reassurance to my current experience.

All was good my baby is nearly 7 months old now and perfectly healthy. I had brown bleeding off and on until week 14 I think it was. I had lots of scans in EPU to monitor him, so make sure you push for the help to give you reassurance,
